Summary of the whole series
To sum it up, a blockbuster home season awaits us all at the end of September till March 2027. Before that of course we mustn’t forget that in June 2026 post Ipl we have Afghanistan visiting India for one-off Test and 3 Odis. Ofcourse playing in June could mean early monsoon and weather playing it’s part over here. So, a lot to look forward to.
India will go to England in July for limited overs series and then to Sri Lanka for 2 Tests and limited overs matches as well as requested by SLC board and then goes to New Zealand as well for full series. So, a packed schedule looms India.
But concentrating on the home series only, it will be exciting for India to host West Indies and our neighbours Sri Lanka for full fledged limited overs series. Then hosting Zimbabwe for 3-match odi series and making them play in Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad is a step in the right direction.
The only Test matches India has at home is against Australia and that is the big one, the Border Gavaskar Trophy for 5 Test matches and that will be compelling viewing for all of us are involved. Only 5 Tests but it will be great viewing for one and all.
India will fancy winning against their opponents but more than winning it is about fine tuning and ironing out flaws as the next target for India should be the 2027 Odi world cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia. How the team prepares will depend on how they fare in these matches. Test matches are different ball game but Odis and T20I are inter-related we can say.
So, we shall see how things pan out when the bumper home season comes calling for us and see how men in blue performs at the highest level.
