IND vs WI: Dhruv Jurel & Ravindra Jadeja Solidify India’s Position

India continued their dominance over the depleted West Indies in a powerful afternoon session. Dhruv Jurel‘s unbeaten 68 runs in 126 balls helped India to gain a huge momentum in their hand. Dhruv Jurel‘s calculated risks and attacking gameplan derailed West Indies as the lead rose to 164 runs.

KL Rahul falls post ton; Dhruv Jurel puts India in command

In the very first over, post morning session, KL Rahul was outdone by Jomel Warrican. KL Rahul went for an ambitious cover drive but couldn’t clear the fielder at short extra cover at Justin Greaves. KL Rahul would rue the opportunity to convert his ton into a big one as there was adequate time left in the match to notch a score in excess of 200. India’s score at KL Rahul’s dismissal was 218-4 in 67.5 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja astounded everyone by playing an ultra-attacking brand of cricket. Ravindra Jadeja often stepped down the track and smashed Jomel Warrican out of the park. It was quite unlike Ravindra Jadeja, who often takes time before going berserk against the opposition.

Dhruv Jurel & Ravindra Jadeja continue to assert dominance

Dhruv Jurel was more than happy to play the role of anchor while Ravindra Jadeja was taking charge of the Caribbean bowlers. Post drinks break, the West Indies didn’t opt for a second new ball. The second new ball is available after the end of 80 overs. Perhaps skipper Roston Chase believed that Jayden Seales might reverse the ball more with the old ball.

Ravindra Jadeja continued his positive and attacking brand of cricket. At the stroke of the afternoon session, Ravindra Jadeja got to his half-century in 75 balls with a smashing boundary. Perhaps the added responsibility of vice captaincy brought the best out of Ravindra Jadeja, who was quite unstoppable. India’s lead now was 164 runs, and both batters were looking all set to end the agony for the West Indies.

What lies ahead for India & West Indies in the evening session

Indian skipper Shubman Gill won’t be in a hurry to declare. We can somewhat expect both Ravindra Jadeja & Dhruv Jurel to get big tons as the old ball is not reversing & also the tactics of Roston Chase haven’t been productive. West Indies in all 5 sessions so far haven’t won a single session nor shared the session. Perhaps it’s high time that Roston Chase takes the second new ball to give them a last chance to make a comeback in the match. West Indies are truly and thoroughly out of the Test match, and we can say it’s about delaying the inevitable for them
