ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Pakistan took an early exit from the tournament due to their poor performances and lack of concerntration which impacted the team and so they knocked out of the World Cup.
Skipper Babar Azam was not up to the mark and scored less runs in the tournament except against Canada. Maybe Babar could lose his captaincy yet once again.
Parthiv Patel lashes out on Babar
Former Indian player Parthiv Patel slams Babar Azam for his selfish behaviour which cost Pakistan badly, Babar Azam prpmoted himself as opener but when Shaheen Afridi was handling the captaincy Babar used to come at N03 but when he was reappointed as captain he came as an opener which feels like a selfishness. While slamming Parthiv Patel said:
“Captain wanted to open, so he had to come down. If the captain is a selfish player, there’s no chance.”
“There’s nothing new about this. Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, everyone says this,” the ex-wicketkeeper said.
“The problem is, there is not a single player who actually can fit into playing XI all the games, except Rizwan,” Parthiv explained. He also claimed that Babar wasn’t an ideal fit in T20I cricket. “Babar Azam, he’s not a T20 player”, Parthiv pointed out.
As a captain you have right to make decisions but if it doesn’t work then changes are needed. Such kind of behaviour won’t be entertained by the team management.
