But one player whose demand and fan following is beyond India even his name is named next to god is none other than MS Dhoni. On 7th July MS Dhoni celebrated his 43rd birthday and all over the world he was showered with lots of wishes. Many celebrities, cricket players and others wished him on social media.
Wasim Akram lauds MS Dhoni
As the celebrations were going on former Pakistan legend Wasim Akram lauds MS Dhoni on his auspicious career and the way he shaped Indian cricket and brought some revolution which was good fortune for India. As we all know MS Dhoni is the only captain who have clinched T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy, many captains fail to clinch one of them but he have lifted all of this. His captaincy was way ahead of the time, even his wicket keeping all other keepers would fail that kind of legacy he has made under his captaincy. He achieved milestones and lifted trophy for India but he didn’t restrict himself, he lifted the IPL trophy for 5 times under his captaincy and he is worshipped in Chennai as god and so their fans call him ‘Thala’ and his popularity in Chennai is countless. Wasim Akram said:
“As a cricketer, he has won the World Cup, and Champions Trophy – all the major (white-ball) trophies. On and off the field, he has led from the front. He has won matches with his batting, keeping and captaincy,” Akram said.
“Wherever he goes, be it Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Punjab, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, the stadium erupts. And it must, why not? There has never been such a cricketer, such a captain in India. If Dhoni doesn’t get such a reception, then who will get it? Sachin used to get it, Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma – these are four big names in Indian cricket. Dhoni definitely deserves the kind of adulation that he gets,” Wasim Akram explained.
Indian Cricket will always remember MS Dhoni for his leadership qualities and his cool,calm and composed nature which makes him one of the finest captain of world cricket.
