A captain is the most important person of the team who runs the team and gives liberty to their players to perform accordingly. If captain don’t play as a team then he his held responsible for the whole system and committee may sack him or else gives a warning to him.
Somewhat we are seeing with Pakistan team a team which use to dominate earlier in 90s and late 2000s now the same team is lacking behind in each department. Skipper Babar Azam is on the radar of every person and kept trolling after the shocking exit from T20 World Cup 2024.
Shahid Afridi slams Babar Azam
Babar Azam was appointed as captain of Pakistan in 2018 and since then his team took exit from group stages but only once they remained runners-up in T20 World Cup 2022 against England, also they took group exit from ODI World Cup 2023 and later Babar Azam resigned as captain and Shaheen Afridi took the charge but suddenly after one series Shaheen Afridi also resigned as captain and Babar Azam was reappointed as captain, then also Pakistan couldn’t turn their fortunes and it continued in 2024 as well they lost to USA and India which impacted on their campaign and so they took early exit and whole world is trolling them and want Babar to quit captaincy and board also suggested of ‘Surgery’ which wasn’t seen anywhere and they failed to their promise. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi slams Babar Azam for getting multiple opportunities still not using it. Shahid Afridi said:
“They should take a decision on the captain or the coach and then give them time. As far as Babar is concerned, we have also captained a lot and a captain never got so many chances. As soon as the World Cup is over, often the captain used to be the first one who got the blame. 2-3 World Cup, 2-3 Asia Cups, he has got enough opportunities.”
If any captain fails in his responsibility it’s team management responsibility to know the flaws between them but no one shows team spirit as Gary Kristen had stated in his tweet and felt they have no such co-opreation or co-ordination. So, even head coach blames his team this shows even he is also not happy in that environment.
Further Shahid Afridi also questioned that why only Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz were sacked from selection committee. On Wednesday Pakistan Cricket Board sacked Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the selection committee and some questions have been raised that why only this two and not others? Shahid Afridi says:
“I got to know that only Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz have been sacked from the selection committee. I don’t understand this surgery. If the selection committee is of 6-7 people then why only these two have been removed?”
What’s happening with Pakistan Cricket Board one bad tournament can’t take harsh decisions it’s fine that team couldn’t perform well but to sack a person from their position with immediate effect is wrong. What will be future decisions can’t say.
