ICC T20 WC 2026: Aryan Dutt Removes Dangerous Saim Ayub Inside Powerplay

Pakistan got off to a racing start in the chase of 148 as Saim Ayub came out all guns blazing. Saim Ayub took the attack to Aryan Dutt as Pakistan meant business while his opening partner Sahibzada Farhan was a mere spectator. The initial part of the powerplay went in favour of Pakistan as they made 22 runs in the first two overs. Logan van Beek went for 13 in his first over after Aryan Dutt gave 9 off the first over of the match.

In the 3rd over as well, Ayub took on Aryan again and was putting on a show by cutting and pulling for fun as the backward point and point fielder was targeted. Ayub looked in total control and Pakistan were cruising in the chase at this stage as they reached 27 runs in 2.3 overs and an early finish was on the cards now. Ayub looked settled in the middle.

Pakistan were 27/0 in 2.3 overs and looking in pink of health when Aryan Dutt got the breakthrough for Netherlands as he removed Ayub who got a start. Ayub made 24 off 13 balls with 4 fours and one six to his name as he fell to the spin bowler.

Aryan Dutt bowled fuller length on the off-stump line. Saim Ayub crouched to slog it over the midwicket region but he was not to the pitch of the ball and lost his shape while looking for a no-look shot. He got a top edge that shot up towards wide mid-on. Roelof van der Merwe settled underneath it easily underneath the high ball and took a good reverse cup catch as Ayub went for 24 off 13 balls. This brought Salman Ali Agha the captain to the crease.

What Lies Ahead In The Chase

Saim Ayub’s wicket ignited hopes for the Netherlands but Pakistan were determined to go at the same tempo that Ayub was going when he opened the batting. Sahibazada Farhan then took over and played some great shots while captain Salman Ali Agha maintained the tempo and took on the Netherlands bowlers especially the pacers. Pakistan made sure that the required rate was never a problem.

Salman Ali Agha fell to Aryan Dutt as well, but Farhan was set and he made sure that Pakistan reached 61/2 in the first powerplay. Pakistan in cruise control and should canter to win. Netherlands need a flurry of wickets in the middle phase to make a match out of it and create some panic in the Pakistan camp. Pakistan in control at the moment.
