Pakistan will be hosting Champions Trophy in 2025. After a shocking campaign in T20 World Cup Pakistan should be groove up for next challenge.
Pakistan haven’t hosted any ICC event due to political constraints and security issues, last time they hosted was in 1996.
Harbhajan Singh warns Pakistan
When the news was flashed that Pakistan will host Champions Trophy then the speculations started over in Indian media whether India will visit to to Pakistan. After few days reports suggested that BCCI haven’t granted permission to travel Pakistan rather they have requested to ICC to play in hybrid model just like last year Asia Cup was played.
It’s all about concerns of the players safety as India and Pakistan have many political issues and border issues so they have stopped playing with each other in bilateral series so they just meet in ICC events and Asia Cup, in 2022 when New Zealand had travelled Pakistan some security issues had occurred so the tour was stopped over there, even in 2009 Sri Lankan players were attacked by some terrorists and so the threat has increased even more whenever any team travels to Pakistan. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has given a tight warning to Pakistan regarding the participation of Indian team. Harbhajan Singh said:
“If our players are not safe in Pakistan, we won’t send the team. If you want to play, play; if not, don’t. Indian cricket can still survive without Pakistan. If you guys can survive without Indian cricket, then do it.”
Last time when both teams faced in champions trophy Pakistan had thrashed India to win the final in 2017 and won their first ever champions trophy title under Sarfaraz Ahmed. So the request has sent to ICC what will be the final verdict is the suspense.
