Defending champions Oval Invincibles completed a hat-trick of titles in Hundred history by beating second-placed Trent Rockets by 26 runs. Oval Invincibles were up for it and played like a champion team to complete the hat-trick of wins and showed to the word why they are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in Hundred. Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, they rode on Will Jacks’ 72 and Jordan Cox’s 40 to post 168/5 in 100 balls.
Defending the total, Nathan Sowter showed up with 3 wickets which includes the Trent Rockets’ top three in no time while the other bowlers bowled well around him as they restricted Trent Rockets to 142/8 despite a valiant 64 off 38 balls from Marcus Stoinis who bowled well earlier in the day picking up 2 wickets. It was a bridge too far for the Rockets as the Invincibles won the contest and lifted the trophy.
Will Jacks’ 72 powers Oval Invincibles to 168/5.Â
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye came out for Oval Invincibles while captain David Willey had ball in hand for Trent Rockets. Jacks was quick off the blocks as he drove Willey down the ground for a boundary. He hit another boundary off Willey through covers. Marcus Stoinis came onto bowl from the other end as Muyeye welcomed him with a boundary down the ground. Stoinis gifted away five wides to the batting side.
George Linde came into the attack next as Muyeye climbed onto him by hitting him for consecutive boundaries. Dillon Pennington came into the attack next and got the first breakthrough getting rid of Muyeye for 15 off 10 balls with 3 fours to his name. He bowled short of a length from over the wicket outside off-stump, Muyeye threw his hands at that with no feet movement and got an outside edge to be taken by keeper Ben Cox. Jordan Cox came out to bat next.
Jacks was on a roll as he hit Pennington through deep point region for a boundary. David Willey came back to bowl the final set of powerplay and bowled a decent set. At the end of 25 balls of powerplay, Oval Invincibles were 43/1. George Linde returned to the attack as Cox slapped him through covers for a boundary. Cox slapped Pennington through sweeper covers for a boundary. Jacks also completed 1000 runs in Men’s Hundred during the course of the innings.
Rehan Ahmed came onto bowl next and he started with a decent set. Stoinis came back and bowled a beamer which resulted in a no ball and free hit which was put away with ease for a boundary by Cox. The 50-run stand came up between Cox and Jacks. Jacks managed to get a boundary through a reverse sweep through backward point for a boundary. At the end of 50 balls at the half-way stage of the innings, Oval Invincibles were 83/1.
Ben Sanderson came into the attack next and was welcomed with a boundary from Jordan Cox through extra covers. Jacks got into the act as well as he hit Sanderson through point for a boundary. David Willey returned and bowled a tidy spell as the 100 came up for Oval Invincibles in 60 balls. Cox then got a reprieve as Linde dropped him off his own bowling. Soon, Will Jacks got to his half-century off 32 balls by hammering Rehan over deep midwicket for the maximum.
Cox was also in his zone as he hit him over midwicket for the maximum. But Rehan hit back getting rid of Cox for 40 off 28 balls with 4 fours and a maximum to his name. Rehan bowled it flatter and wider outside off-stump, Jordan Cox had to reach for it and threw his bat at it. He got the bottom edge as Ben Cox took a sharp catch behind the stumps. Sam Curran came out to bat next. Jacks was in his zone as he launched Pennington for the maximum over extra covers.
After 75 balls, Oval Invincibles were 127/2. Jacks welcomed back Willey by hitting him for consecutive boundaries. Sam Curran got into the act as he launched Willey over midwicket for a flat maximum. Stoinis returned and got rid of the well-set Will Jacks for 72 off 41 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes to his name. He bowled it short of a length outside off-stump the slower delivery into the pitch, Jacks had to fetch it and there was no pace to work with. He stood tall and dragged the pull straight to deep midwicket where Calvin Harrison took the catch. The finisher Donovan Ferreira came out to bat next.
Sam Curran survived a run out chance at the bowler’s end due to miscommunication between the two batters, but Rockets missed out on completing it. Ferreira launched Stoinis over deep midwicket off a low full toss for the maximum. Sam Curran too flicked Stoinis for a maximum over midwicket but the Australian veteran hit back getting rid of Sam for 15 off 10 balls with 2 sixes to his name.
Stoinis bowled full on the leg stump which was in the slot for Sam and he whipped it flat and hard to deep backward square leg as there was power and not enough elevation. Tom Banton took a superb catch in the deep and nearly took it behind him as it was travelling as he adjusted himself near the fence to get into a sideways position and pouched it safely. Tom Curran his brother replaced him at the crease. Soon, Tom was run out for a bronze duck as the keeper did well to effect the run out at the striker’s end. Captain Sam Billings came out to bat next.
He got off the mark with a single by Ferreira managed a brace off the final ball of the innings. Oval Invincibles finished with 168/5 in 100 balls with Ferreira unbeaten on 12 off 8 with a maximum to his name while Sam Billings the captain unbeaten on 1 off 1 ball. 13 extras given by the fielding side.
From the bowling point of view, Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 2/40 in 20 balls. Dillon Pennington finished with 1/23 in 20 balls while Rehan Ahmed chipped in with 1/28 in 15 balls. David Willey gave 36 runs in 20 balls. George Linde gave 24 runs in 15 balls while Ben Sanderson gave 16 runs in 10 balls. It meant that Trent Rockets needed 169 runs off 100 balls to win Hundred 2025.

Chasing 169 for the win, Tom Banton and Joe Root came out to open the batting for Trent Rockets while Jason Behrendorff had ball in hand for Oval Invincibles. Banton got off the mark through an inside edge past the stumps to go away to the fence. Banton once again hit Jason this time through the covers for a boundary. Saqib Mahmood came onto bowl from the other end and bowled a decent set. Jason continued as Banton lifted him over midwicket for a boundary.
Sam Curran came into the attack next and bowled a decent set. Tom Curran came to bowl the last set of powerplay as Banton hit him over midwicket for a boundary. After 25 balls of powerplay in the chase, Trent Rockets were 32/0. Adam Zampa came into the attack post the powerplay and bowled a tidy set. Nathan Sowter came into the attack next and got rid of Joe Root for 10 off 13 balls.
Sowter tossed up on a full length on the middle stump, Root came down the track and looked to hit down the ground by holding his shape and hitting through the line but he mistimed it a bit. The ball was sailing towards long-on fence but Will Jacks was there and had other ideas in the deep. He judged the ball to perfection to lift his right leg to maintain his balance and took a good catch above his head. Rehan Ahmed came out to bat and fell for a silver duck to Sowter in the same set.
Sowter bowled a length ball on the stumps that skidded off the surface. Rehan made room on the leg side and looked to cut but missed it on the bottom edge as the ball cannoned right between the middle and off-stump. Captain David Willey came out to bat next and got off the mark straightaway. Sowter was on a roll as he now dismissed Tom Banton for 23 off 21 balls with 4 fours to his name.
Sowter tossed it up leggie on the middle stump, Banton strode forward and got too close to the pitch of the ball and tried to slam it straight over the umpire’s hand. The bat turned in his hands as he sliced it straight to long-off where Jordan Cox took a sitter. Marcus Stoinis came out to bat next and got off the mark with a single. Stoinis took the attack to Zampa by launching him over midwicket for the maximum. Sam Curran returned and bowled a decent set as well.
After 50 balls at the halfway stage of the chase, Trent Rockets were 51/3 and needed 118 more off 50 balls. Nathan Sowter came back into the attack. Stoinis took him on and hit him for a boundary through wide long-on. David Willey joined in the fun by hitting a boundary through extra cover and long-off. Willey then smashed Zampa down the ground for the maximum. But the wily leg spinner hit back next ball getting rid of Willey for 14 off 8 balls with one four and one maximum to his name.
Zampa bowled it full and tossed up googly outside off-stump, Willey made room on the leg side and went for the slog across the line. He got beaten on the outside edge as Sam Billings whipped off the bails. Appeal for Stumping was sent upstairs and replays showed that Willey’s feet was on the line. OUT loaded on the big screen. George Linde came out to bat next. Stoinis hit Sowter down the ground for a boundary towards long-off. Linde got into the act as he hit the returning Tom Curran for a boundary to deep backward point. But Tom bounced back getting rid of Linde for 7 off 6 balls with a boundary to his name.
Tom bowled it short and at the stumps, Linde got cramped up for room as he went for the pull shot and got hit high on the bat as the ball went straight towards deep backward square leg. Nathan Sowter took a good catch in the deep. Ross Whiteley came out to bat next and got off the mark straightaway. Zampa bowled another tidy set. After 75 balls, Trent Rockets were 91/5 and needed a humongous 78 runs off 25 balls.
Sam Curran returned as Stoinis kept on fighting by hitting a boundary behind square on the off-side. The 100 came up for Trent Rockets in 80 balls. Tom Curran returned and was launched by Whiteley over long-on for the maximum. Stoinis then smashed Tom for back-to-back sixes to keep Rockets’ slim hopes alive. Mahmood returned and ran Whiteley out for 14 off 9 balls with a maximum to his name as the batters tried to take an impossible single and paid the price did Whiteley. Sam Hain came to the crease next.
Stoinis managed to hit a boundary off Sam Curran through cover and point to get to his fifty in 32 balls but the match was beyond the Rockets now. He also launched Curran over covers for a maximum off a full toss. We had another run out this time at the bowler’s end as Sam Hain was run out for 1 off 3 balls as the ball went to straight mid-on. Hain ran and was sent back with the run out completed at the bowler’s end. Ben Cox came out to bat next.
Stoinis managed to launch Mahmood for the maximum over deep midwicket but it was too little too late. Mahmood got rid of Stoinis for 64 off 38 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes in the innings to end the contest. Saqib went for the yorker on the leg stump and tailed in a bit to which Stoinis missed the flick on the inside edge and got struck on the front pad. The appeal was given OUT. The ball looked to be missing the leg stump to the naked eye but there was no point to review as Stoinis let it go. Trent Rockets finished with 142/8 in 100 balls with Ben Cox on 0* off 0 balls. 9 extras given by the fielding side.
Nathan Sowter was the pick of the bowlers for Oval Invincibles as he finished with 3/25 in 20 balls. Adam Zampa complimented him well with 1/21 in 20 balls. Saqib Mahmood bowled well for his 1/10 in 15 balls. Tom Curran finished with 1/34 in 15 balls. Jason Behrendorff gave away 16 runs in 10 balls while Sam Curran gave away 31 runs in 20 balls. So, Oval Invincibles won by 26 runs to complete a hat-trick of titles in Hundred history winning in 2023, 2024, and now in 2025.
For his outstanding bowling performance, Nathan Sowter was given the Player of the Match and the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament went to Jordan Cox for his 367 runs in the tournament. So, with this the Hundred 2025 concluded on a glorious evening at Lord’s as 34 matches panned out from 5th August 2025 to 31st August 2025 ended last night with this game.
