GT beat DC by 7 wickets in a high-scoring thriller yesterday at Ahmedabad. Jos Buttler, the boss, showed his class in high-scoring chases once again when the target was a bit steep of 204 runs. Let’s look at the records which were broken.
First to chase 200+ against DC
Delhi Capitals had a record of never losing a match while defending 200+ scores in IPL History. That record was broken yesterday by GT. They have been victorious in 17 matches before ending the streak yesterday.
This was also the first 200+ chase by GT. GT was known for chasing high totals like 180 or 190, but it had never won the match before while chasing 200+ totals. Jos Buttler ended that streak as well.
Jos Buttler the Boss
Jos Buttler is always known for performing well on big occasions. He is the clutch player who steps up in such high-scoring chases.
He has done it many times for RR before and now delivered for his new team, GT. He has scored 90+ runs for 6 times while chasing in IPL, which is the most by any batter.
Jos Buttler’s match-winning knock of 97 runs in 54 balls was quite a treat to watch. The swashbuckling batter had hit 11 fours and 4 sixes and had a calculative mindset to hunt down the target, which showed volumes of experience the batter has had.
