India gets off to a strong start on Day 1 at Manchester. Rishabh Pant‘s toe injury looked serious as he couldn’t even walk back to the pavilion. If he didn’t come out to bat tomorrow, it would be a concern for India. Let’s look at the records being broken on an exhilarating Day 1.
Toe crusher for Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant came to bat when the score was 140/3. He built a partnership with Sai Sudarshan and started playing his usual unorthodox shots to score quick runs. When the score was 212/3, he tried to play a reverse sweep shot on Chris Woakes’s slow yorker, but unfortunately got hit on his toe.
He couldn’t even walk back to the pavilion and was carried by a buggy. His injury seems to be a little serious. Hope he recovers soon. This is a must-win match for India to stay alive in this series, and Pant’s contribution with the bat is crucial.
There is no confirmation about the seriousness of his injury and the possibilities of him walking out to bat tomorrow if needed. He was batting at 37 off 48 balls. Before he was injured, he became the first visiting wicket-keeping batter to score 1000 test runs in England.

Rishabh Pant also became the only wicket-keeper to score 1000 test runs in two different countries. He did it in India ( 1061 runs ) and England ( 1018 runs ). He is very close to achieving this milestone in Australia as well ( 879 runs ).
Rishabh Pant became the sixth Indian batter to complete 1000 test runs in England.
Klaasy start from KL Rahul
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a solid start for the visitors by without losing their wickets in the first session. KL Rahul got out for 46 runs when the team score was 94 runs. when he reached 11 runs, he completed 1000 test runs in England.
He became the seventh Indian batter to complete 1000 test runs in multiple countries. Rishabh Pant became the eigth, later in the innings.

He became the 20th Indian batter to achieve this feat and he is only the third left-handed batter after Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant to reach this milestone.
