The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 is no less than a controversy. When Indian captain Shubman Gill was embroiled in a controversy during Lord’s Test match, now the head coach Gautam Gambhir has made unnecessary headlines. Gautam Gambhir used not-so-good language while interacting with the Oval curator, which undoubtedly has tarnished the reputation of a billion people and of the BCCI.
The Oval Test match is a do-or-die one for Shubman Gill’s brigade. The 4th Test match was a hard-fought moral victory for the unit. The harsh fact, though, is that India will have to wait for another 4 years to win a Test series in England; the current scoreline in favor of 2-1 has made Great Britain very happy, as a defeat in the 5th Test match won’t hurt Ben Stokes as much as a Test series defeat would have.
Gautam Gambhir’s aggressive behavior crosses a line
India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, wanted to have a view of the pitch, and the curator rejected the request blatantly. Gautam Gambhir then got so angry and furious that the batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, had to intervene & stop India’s head coach from getting physical with the curator.
Such heated exchanges have made the Indian cricket team a laughing stock who aren’t following the ethics of the game. Many would argue and debate on Ben Stokes’ actions on Day 5 of the 4th Test match, but the way Gambhir interacted is very alarming, as he is not a player now anymore; a post of head coach comes with very diligent responsibility.
Gautam Gambhir, a Fighter or Attention Seeker?
It looks like Gautam Gambhir wants to fight with everyone, and unfortunately, that is not how a game of cricket is; the bat & ball should roar on the ground, not a head coach, which is a harsh fact. The British Media has launched a scathing attack on the richest board, aka BCCI, as these actions of Gambhir aren’t that promising and not in the spirits & laws of the game which we should not forget
We should not forget that Gautam Gambhir is one of the most powerful figures in Indian cricket. It is often said that with great power comes great responsibility. In the case of Gambhir as the head coach of the Test side, India lost the Test series against New Zealand by 3-0, Australia by 3-1, and is now on the verge against England unless something out of the blue happens in the 5th Test match.
A stern task awaits Brendon McCullum & Gautam Gambhir
‘Bazball’ hasn’t been exposed that much in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. England batters have shown immense mental application in tricky conditions as scoring 600+ runs in the 4th Test match isn’t a fluke. Ben Stokes has been a ONE- MAN- ARMY who has led the team in all three 3 facets of the game. Ben Stokes will give his all to make sure that England end the series on a winning note, as they had begun.
England has shown that they can hunt in packs, whether it is in the batting or bowling departments. Due to such a winning mindset, England is ahead in the series, and even after a drawn 4th Test match, England is grinning and very much pumped up to spoil India’s chances of squaring the Test series as the duo of Brendon McCullum & Ben Stokes have peaked and looking very dangerous and ominous.
Gautam Gambhir’s actions most likely will have repercussions, and the team should be ready for them. A lot is at stake for Gambhir, according to sources with knowledge, Arshdeep Singh is all set to come into the team in place of Jasprit Bumrah to manage the workload program. Dhruv Jurel is expected to come in place of Rishabh Pant, as the middle order now looks a bit fragile.
If we look deep down the line, India wasn’t a team in transition in this Test Series. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and the bowling attack of Mohammed Siraj & Jasprit Bumrah were vastly experienced as compared to the England side. India failed very badly in 1st & 3rd Test matches due to which the billion people will have to wait for the 2029 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to win series.
