Kuldeep Yadav is one of the senior left arm chinaman spinner amongst the bowling attack. Due to Kuldeep Yadav’s presence India has the potential to win Test series over England. Former selector Venkatapathy Raju has said about Kuldeep Yadav’s performance along with other members.
Kuldeeo Yadav could be a surprise match winner in series- Venkatpathy Raju
Kuldeep Yadav has last played in a Test series against England in 2018 at Lord’s. He conceded 44 wickets. In his 13 Test matches, he collected 56 wickets till now. However after Ashwin retired from Test cricket, all the pressure will be on Kuldeep Yadav. Former spinner Venkatpathy Raju assumed that Kuldeep Yadav may be the next surprise match winner in WTC 2025-27 cycle & against England. He said,
“Someone like Kuldeep is very difficult for a new batter to pick. I think he could be a surprise match-winner in this series. He has played quite a bit of international cricket, including white-ball formats,” said Venkatpathy Raju.
Vekatapathy Raju also added,
“Now we have another experienced spinner in Ravindra Jadeja, but he has played for many years, and you can see that the zip is not the same anymore. Washington Sundar has only played a few Test matches in India and Australia, so we can’t put too much pressure on him,”
He also talked in terms of bowling Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are the only rising hope for this test series. Though Kuldeep this time has been practicing more and trying to stay on the track. He informed via IANS that,
“As the tour progresses and the weather gets hotter, wickets will become drier. The contributions of Kuldeep and Jadeja will be crucial in the second half of the series to take wickets in the second innings,”
Ravindra Jadeja is crucial- Venkatpathy Raju
Venkatpathy Raju spoke about one of the veterans’ all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. As Kuldeep Yadav is still in a bit of early stages of developing and being a deadly force to reckon with. On Ravindra Jadeja, Raju said,
“While discussing Kuldeep, we shouldn’t forget Ravindra Jadeja – he is crucial. He is in his mid-30s, super fit, and can contribute with the bat. Unfortunately, Jadeja was often seen as a second-innings bowler on turning tracks,”
He also added that Ravindra Jadeja has the power to turn the match in their favour even under pressure. As a player like Washington Sundar is a junior in this test. They have a lot to learn. The former selector said,
“But Ravindra Jadeja can control the game. He is at a stage in his career where his contributions are vital. The first couple of Tests will test him, despite his experience. It will be a tussle between him and Washington Sundar. He should use his experience to provide breakthroughs that will help the fast bowlers.”
On the other hand, England whether will definitely favour Indian spinner to their victory ahead of WTC 2025. He said,
“Initially, conditions will favour fast bowlers and batters for the first couple of days. But from the third or fourth day onwards, footmarks and dry patches will be crucial,”
“In England, red soil offers good bounce. That’s where Jadeja will play a crucial role. We have discussed Kuldeep, and how they combine could turn the tables for India,” he also informed.
