IPL is spread worldwide and it has impacted every player and they have an urge to play IPL as it’s a great platform to score runs and show the talent in front of everyone.
But international players can’t wait till end as they rush to their national duties in between of the season and so they can’t manage simultaneously.
Pat Cummins demands to keep IPL separate from Test Cricket
It’s a tradition that IPL always clash with international matches and many players leave the teams to serve the national duties. Many test matches are lined up which many players fails to join or they leave the team in between. So on this Aussie skipper Pat Cummins have kept a demand that IPL should play in different months so that they won’t clash with Test Cricket. Franchise cricket has been popular past many years and it has affected the international cricket. For the sake of league cricket many players have cancelled their contract to play more franchise cricket. This is actually a debatable question whether League cricket is actually impacting international cricket. Many players want to play league cricket as the era demands this and so it has shifted towards this but playing for the country is the most important thing which many players have forget for the sake of money and oppurtunities. Pat Cummins said:
“Franchise cricket for some countries is more lucrative, more appealing than international cricket. If I went and played franchise cricket, I could probably be away for a half or a third of the amount we are for Australia.
“In Australia, you know Test cricket is from November to January and basically no other cricket is going to get in the way of us playing Test cricket then. If we can have specific windows for IPL but then also Test windows, that makes the decision-making for the players a lot easier,” he added.
Actually if we see we can’t deny the conditions or season of the country it’s preplanned and scheduled way before and the clashes will happen so their is no way to solve it. If some players rely more on league cricket they will focus more on that as they feel their place in the team is over or else they won’t get more oppurtunities. Earlier many players cancelled their contracts and they remain firm on their decision and having a good time. Once Jos Buttler also also expressed his views on same topic:
“It’s my personal opinion that there shouldn’t be any international cricket that clashes with the IPL. I think that these games have been in the calendar for a long time. Of course, leading into a World Cup, your No. 1 priority is playing for England and performing for England. I feel like this is the best preparation.”
Many players have a dedication that they want to play international cricket only as their requirement and know the importance of their country, Mitchell Starc had kept isolated from league cricket so he was not the part of IPL for almost 8 years then after he enrolled himself and was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whooping amount of 24.75 crores. So, their are many such players like him who have soft corner towards international cricket and get a chance to prepare for ICC events.
