Many players play cricket all over the world to get a chance to play for their country, however, only selective people get a chance to play, and the rest still struggle to play. Dawid Malan may have retired after ECB ignored him for Australia ODI Series which is considered to be a stepping stone for ICC Champions Trophy 2025. England have rested the likes of Root & Stokes citing ahead of a busy Test series schedule.

If your game doesn’t improve at the international level then team management also sidelines you or may not consider you afterward, so to stay for a longer time fitness and consistency is very important. Dawid Malan was a vital cog for England over the last 2-3 years as his attacking mindset kept the opposition bowlers under pressure.

England’s explosive batter Dawid Malan announced his retirement from international cricket. England was at its peak when David Malan used to smash runs for the team, David Malan was an important player in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Dawid Malan was the No. 1 batsman in T20Is and used to dominate this format, however, last year’s ODI World Cup 2023 was his last appearance but later he wasn’t part of the T20 World Cup 2024, he wasn’t considered by the team. Recently many players announced their retirement like Shikhar Dhawan, and many more.  Dawid Malan said:

“Perhaps it’s in my nature, but I often felt like I had something to prove, and whilst the pressure goes with the territory, it does take a mental and physical toll. That being said, I’ve loved representing England, winning big games, and playing alongside so many fantastic players.”

“I am so grateful to so many people: to the coaches and staff of the various England teams, to everyone who helped and supported me along the way, and to all my England teammates over these seven years. None of this would have happened without the endless support and sacrifices of my parents, and I’d like to thank my wife Claire for her love, unwavering support, and for looking after our two children and our home while I was so often on the road.”

David Malan may only be now available for T20 franchise cricket, he may continue to play for several years since he took retirement from international cricket. Services from Dawid Malan will be missed by everyone from now international cricket also for England.
