Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got themselves in a very tough scenario. CSK has lost 6 matches out of 8 and now are in a must-win situation to give them the best chance to qualify for the playoffs. MS Dhoni‘s performance hasn’t been that encouraging with the bat, as CSK have fallen apart in chases. MS Dhoni has scored 134 runs in 8 innings, and the forced responsibility of leading the side again has affected his game.
The way MI defeated CSK was quite shocking, given how MI chased down the 177 target comfortably with more than 4 overs left in the match. The spin veterans Ravindra Jadeja & Ravichandran Ashwin haven’t been able to contain the batters and force a false shot. Ashwin & Jadeja have taken 5 wickets apiece in the tournament, which has hurt the team.
We don’t criticize our team at all- CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan
CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan was having an interaction with the media. CSK CEO pointed out that the team needs collective effort from everyone rather than individual performances. Kasi Vishwanathan pointed out that the administration doesn’t criticize the team, and all the decisions are taken by management only.
“We have not been performing up to the mark. We are trying to improve, and we will try to do well in the next few games. We have never pressed the panic button in our franchise is not like that, it is just a game,” said Kasi Vishwanathan.
“See, it’s not the question of anybody. It’s a question that the team should do well and not just one individual. We don’t talk to the team management. Dhoni will do what is right for the team. What we are expecting as administrators is a good performance by the team, and we don’t criticise our team at all,” he added.
Critical junction for CSK & MS Dhoni
CSK’s next match is against SRH on 25th April at Chennai. Perhaps, a home game can bring back the joy for CSK after a string of defeats. MS Dhoni was quite optimistic so was head coach Stephen Fleming, that they could turn things around. MS Dhoni is often said to be a tactician, but we should not forget that he alone can’t win the IPL or even take them to the playoffs.
CSK in the recent 5 years, in 2020, 2022 & 2024, couldn’t qualify for the playoffs. There was a huge uproar that how a champion team failed to match the standards, but the team bounced back in later editions with titles in 2021 & 2023. Perhaps, it’s time now that CSK tests the youngsters more and more chances & as of now, CSK have got nothing to lose and everything to play for as placed at the bottom of the points table.
