Another team breached the Chepauk fortress this year, and it was SRH. With that, CSK‘s playoff chances are almost over now. They are on the verge of elimination. Nothing went right for them this season. Let’s look at the records which were broken after CSK failed to defend the target of 155 & SRH won by 5 wickets quite easily.
4th Consecutive loss at Home for CSK
This is the first time in IPL history that CSK has lost four consecutive matches at their home ground, Chepauk. After their first win at home against arch-rivals MI, four teams have breached the Chepauk fortress this year: RCB, DC, KKR & SRH. Struggling to win matches at home, once their fortress, was the main reason for CSK’s downfall.
First win at Chepauk for SRH
SRH registered their first win at Chepauk in their 6th attempt. They have lost in all 5 previous encounters. The 12-year streak was ended yesterday. This has been the story of this year. Every team is coming to Chepauk and ending their losing streaks there. Teams to end their losing streak at Chepauk so far,
- RCB ( First win in 17 years )
- DC ( First win in 15 years )
- KKR ( First win vs CSK at Chepauk after 2012 Finals )
- SRH ( First win at Chepauk )
April 25 luck ended
April 25 was a lucky day for CSK and MS Dhoni. CSK never lost a match under MS Dhoni on this date. CSK have won their first IPL title in 2010 against MI on the same date. But even that record is broken now. CSK on April 25th under MSD:
- Won vs MI ( 2010 )
- Won vs PWI ( 2011 )
- Won vs SRH ( 2013 )
- Won vs MI ( 2014 )
- Won vs PBKS ( 2015 )
- Won vs RCB ( 2018 )
- Won vs RCB ( 2021 )
- Lost vs SRH ( 2025 )*
No sixes in the powerplay
In yesterday’s match, both CSK and SRH batters didn’t hit a single six in the powerplay. Both teams dealt with the boundaries. This is the first instance in this season that not even a single six was hit by both teams in the powerplay.
MS Dhoni 400
MS Dhoni played his 400th T20 match yesterday. He is the 25th player and 4th Indian to achieve this feat. Indians to play more T20 matches:
- Rohit Sharma ( 456 )
- Dinesh Karthick ( 412 )
- Virat Kohli ( 408 )
- MS Dhoni ( 400 )
Unfortunately, Dhoni lost in all of his century milestone matches ( 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th ) in T20’s.
- 400th T20 in 2025 ( Lost )
- 300th T20 in 2019 ( Lost )
- 200th T20 in 2015 ( Lost )
- 100th T20 in 20111 ( Lost )
