Breached the Chepauk fort after 17 years
 RCB have breached the Chepauk fort by beating CSK for the first time in their home after 17 years. The last instance happened in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008. RCB had to wait for 17 long years to taste their second victory at Anbu den. Interestingly, both these victories came while defending the target. And the last 5 victories for RCB against CSK came while defending the target.
This raises questions about CSK’s batting as well. The last time CSK chased 180+ in IPL was back in 2020 when they chased 181 runs in 15 overs against Punjab Kings with 10 wickets in hand. It’s hard to believe that the team that is known for unbelievable chases in IPL history is struggling to chase high scores in recent years. But scoring 190+ in Chepauk is also not an easy task. The credit must go to the RCB batters.
The highest loss margin for CSK at the home ground
CSK lost by 50 runs against RCB yesterday. This is their highest loss margin against any team at their home ground, Chepauk. Overall, it’s the third-highest lose margin for CSK in IPL. The first instance was against the Mumbai Indians in 2013. CSK lost by 60 runs against them at Wankhede. This match is also remembered for the lowest score for CSK when they got all out for 79 runs.
The second instance was against Punjab Kings where CSK lost the match by 54 runs at Brabourne stadium in 2022. CSK got all out for 126 runs while chasing 180.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s consecutive ducks against RCB
Ruturaj was appointed as CSK’s captain ahead of the 2024 IPL season. In the last league of the season in a must-win encounter against RCB, he scored a golden duck. Yesterday again he was dismissed for a four-ball duck. He entered the unwanted record of becoming the first captain to score a duck against the same opponent in consecutive matches between them. He also became the first CSK captain to be dismissed for duck against RCB.
His career got a spark after scoring his maiden fifty against RCB in 2020, but after that, he struggled against fellow southpaws. Hope he changes the numbers in the next encounter between these two sides.
