CSK vs DC: DC’s Terrific Win Against CSK Breaks Records

DC defeated CSK by 25 runs at Chepauk and strengthened their position at the top of the table. Yet again a disappointing performance from CSK. They are giving the vibes of 2020 and 2022 now.

Chepauk Fortress Breached

Chepauk is known to be the fortress of CSK. They used to dominate their opponents at the home ground. But things are not the same this season. CSK are playing like visitors in their home ground so far. They lost two out of three games played here.

Two weeks before, RCB defeated CSK at Chepauk after 17 years, and yesterday DC beat CSK at Chepauk after 15 years. The last time they beat Chennai at their home was back in 2010. The 15-year-long streak has ended now.

KL Rahul Klaas against CSK

KL Rahul won the Man of the Match award yesterday against CSK for his knock of 77 runs off 51 balls. He played the anchor role but accelerated whenever needed. He attacked the spinner and didn’t allow them to settle. This affected the bowling plans of CSK. None of the 3 spinners completed their spell because of him.

KL Rahul completed his 6th fifty against CSK. Overall, he is in the 5th place in the list of batters who scored more fifty-plus scores against CSK. Here is the list

  1. Shikar Dhawan – 9 ( 29 innings )
  2. Virat Kohli – 9 ( 33 innings )
  3. David Warner – 9 ( 21 innings )
  4. Rohit Sharma – 8 ( 35 innings )
  5. KL Rahul – 6 ( 15 innings )

He also holds the record for most Man of the Match awards against CSK with MI legend Keiron Pollard. Both have won four MOM awards against CSK. KL will soon top the list. After Keiron, KL is the new nightmare for CSK.

Unwanted record by Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar had come to bat at the No.4 position. The batter looked awful throughout in his innings, it won’t be wrong to say that there was a lack of hand-eye coordination. He had come to bat when CSK was 20-2. Shankar wasn’t able to time the ball sweetly, and the required run rate kept on creeping.

Vijay Shankar, along with MS Dhoni, stitched a 84 runs partnership in 57 balls. Vijay Shankar got to his half century in 43 balls, the slowest in this year’s IPL. Previously Ravindra Jadeja had scored 50 runs in 42 balls against MI as one CSK player broke another CSK player but this record isn’t to be proud of. Vijay Shankar got around 4 lives and his knock of 69 runs in 54 balls, comprising of 5 fours and 1 six, wasn’t quite up to the standards of T20 cricket.
