The Men in Blue breached the Optus Cricket Stadium, Perth, and broke Australia’s 4 matches winning streak. India’s stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah proved to the world that he can also perform & excel while donning the captaincy duties. Jasprit Bumrah took 8 scalps in the opening Test match which included a 5 wicket haul in 1st innings and was bowling impeccable lines & lengths. The 2nd Test match will start from 6th December at Adelaide which will be a pink ball Test match.

India though is missing the services of the veteran lightning-fast bowler Mohammed Shami who is in India and is doing rehabilitation. There are chances that BCCI will bring Shami for the remaining Tests; Jasprit Bumrah during a press conference also hinted that Shami will be in the squad very soon. Shami’s presence will bolster India’s pace attack, he was a part of the 2014-15, 2018-19 & 2020-21 Australian Test tours.

Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action is unequivocally clean- Greg Chappell

Gregg Chappell wrote in his column for Sydney Morning Herald. Greg Chappell stated that Australian media should focus on it’s batters rather than pointing to Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action. Greg Chappell made it very clear that Bumrah’s action is absolutely clean and it shouldn’t be a point of discussion given it demeans the bowler.

“Yet it was Australia’s batting performance that was more concerning. India’s bowlers, spearheaded by the lethal Jasprit Bumrah, looked sharper and more menacing. By the way, please stop this nonsense of questioning Bumrah’s action. It is unique, but it is unequivocally clean. It demeans a champion performer and the game to even bring it up,” said Greg Chappell.

India’s fast bowlers are on a roll

Jasprit Bumrah has been the silent assassin for the last couple of years. Jasprit Bumrah’s action has been a talking point as he takes 10 yards to bowl a delivery which takes the batter by surprise as he bowls in excess of 135 Km/hr consistently. Even Jasprit Bumrah has said it that his bowling action gives him trouble due to which we have seen in the past that BCCI carefully manages his workload.

Harshit Rana impressed everyone in the Perth Test match and against everyone’s expectations, he got the nod over Akash Deep who had played Tests against England & New Zealand in the 2024 calendar year and showed a lot of promise was also in the squad. Harshit Rana took  4 wickets in the match and can once again pip Akash Deep for the 2nd Test match. India since 2019 over so, has become a land of fast bowlers which has been a great attainment for BCCI.
