Rohit Sharma and his company had a horrible series against New Zealand at home. Team India suffered their first ever Test series whitewash in its history and also their unbeaten run of 12 years comes to an end. Indian skipper received lot of criticism after his poor performace as a captain, he also failed to control things with his bat as he only managed to score 91 runs in six innings.

Indian skipper looked in discomfort against the Kiwi pacers especially against Tim Southee who moves the ball. Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has expressed concern regarding Rohit Sharma ahead of the Australia tour.

Rohit Sharma should bat at No. 3 –  Danish Kaneria

During a recent interaction with the Times of India, Danish Kaneria suggested that Indian captain Rohit Sharma should come one-down as he was struggling the Blackcaps due to movement of the ball. He also said that Rohit should be more careful while facing Australians.

“Just see if Rohit Sharma is still comfortable opening or if he should come in one-down and change his order a little bit because he has been struggling with the track in India. In the recent series, Southee got him out twice, and the ball will move more over there in Australia, so you have to see how you go with that,” the former off-spinner said.

It is not hidden that the Indian captain struggles a bit while facing swing bowlers but he must elevate his skills to counter them in the Australian conditions. As per report, Rohit Sharma’s participation in the first Test match is uncertain, as he might be unavailable due to personal conditions.

Shubman Gill should open with Yashasvi Jaiswal- Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria further discussed about the ideal openers for the Australian conditions, as suggested that Shubman Gill should open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal as he did on his last tour of Australia with Mayank Agarwal. Gill has good record against the Aussies so that will help Team India.

“The Indian top order should be Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman as openers, Rohit coming one-down, and Virat Kohli two-down. They have to manage that. Gautam Gambhir needs to manage the long Indian batting line-up, as Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are there, so they have a deep batting line-up,” Kaneria added.

With the series loss against New Zealand at home by 0-3, Team India finds themselves in very difficult situation, they have to win all the remaing matches to qualify for the World Test Championship final, which is set to be played in England next year. As of now, it seems quite difficult for Team India but it is impossible as they have already done in Past. The first Test match of the series is set to be played in Perth from November 22 at Optus Stadium. In the absence of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah will the take the charge on his shoulders.
