Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is expected to be a spectacle, given that both India and Australia won’t give up. The first Test match, starting on 22nd November 2024 at Optus Stadium, Perth, is expected to swing massively. Alex Carey has been the underrated batter in Australia’s team. Alex Carey behind the wickets is quite vocal and is a team player, as his 30-odd runs contribution is also vital.

Skipper Pat Cummins knows they need to dominate India from the first ball. Pat Cummins and management need to carefully monitor the workload of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. There are chances that Mitchell Marsh will bowl, but he is also quite injury-prone, and Cummins has a lot to ponder over with the team combination.

I am just trying to keep a really level & consistent process batting- Alex Carey

Alex Carey was having an interaction with reporters ahead of the 1st Test match against India. Alex Carey pointed out that not playing games for Australia can be frustrating & said that he has worked on his technique. Alex Carey stated that he knows very well that there are many quality wicket-keepers in Australia waiting to be in the playing 11.

“When you play and play and play, you don’t really get a chance to work on too many things. Not having games coming up for a while, I’ve just mucked around a little bit with my hands and found something that felt good and sort of ran with that, It’s only slight, but at the moment, it feels like I’m in a good position and reacting pretty well to the ball. But I think just a bit of time off and a bit of exploring gives you those opportunities. “ said Alex Carey.

“I’m just trying to keep a really level and consistent process batting. I think, at times, potentially getting out in ways with premeditation, which can happen, and trying to do too many things at once. I’m just trying to stay quite clear now and react to the ball and back yourself to make the right decision,” he stated.

“I understand it’s a unique position to be in. There’s one wicketkeeper in a team, and there’s lots of quality around the country who are trying to get that spot and I was one of those players once. You focus on your game. You control what you can control. For me, it’s doing my job for this team, hopefully help us win games of cricket and play in this Test team as long as possible,” he added.

Alex Carey an under-rated batter

Not many know that Alex Carey played a match winning knock of 98 runs against New Zealand in New Zealand in 2024 in 2nd Test Match. Carey knows how to keep the scoreboard ticking and also can play the role of aggressor while batting with the tail-enders which is invaluable.

Josh Inglis, the wicket-keeper batter has been named in the squad for 1st Test match but looks unlikely that he would get a game. Nathan McSweeny is set to make his Test debut who has an unorthodox batting style. Even if Australia is playing in their home conditions, they are still are not sure shot favorites as their batting line up is a bit too much centric on Steve Smith & Marnus Labuschagne.
