In a recent development in Pakistan cricket, their white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten has parted his ways with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Gary Kirsten was all set to start preparation for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 ahead of their white-ball series against Australia but reportedly he had a possible rift with board officials after leaving him and Test head coach Jason Gillespie out from selection committee.

The PCB chief made some allegations on the South African great Gary Kirsten following his resignation from the post. He also alleged that Kirsten ended his tenure and made some breaches of his contract. Apart from Gary Kirsten, their Red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie is also not happy after the reduced role with the team.

Recently, Pakistan won the historic Test series against mighty England at their home by 2-1 after being defeated in the first Test in Multan. They won two consecutive matches to win the series after 3 long years. After a long Red-ball series for Men in Green, they are ready to take on Australia for their white-ball tour which is set to take off on November 4. Some big names are missing from the squad and eventually they will have new captain for the series after the appointment of Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain.

During a recent media interaction on Tuesday, PCB chief opens up on Kirsten’s resignation from the white-ball head coach post. The former South Africa cricketer Gary Kirsten resigned his post within six months of his role in April 2024. Naqci also said that they are yet to finalise new head coach for the white-ball.

“Kirsten broke his contract with the PCB and made some breaches. He ended the contract with us. We will have a new white ball head coach by the end of this month because Jason Gillispie has only agreed to manage the team in Australia for the white ball matches on an interim basis. He is more focussed on his role as red ball head coach. The team will have a new white ball coach for the Zimbabwe tour,” Naqvi told the media.

Aaqib Javed, the National Cricket Academy head, has shown no interest in taking over the charge of the white-ball head coach post as he is looking to groom young talents and work on the development of the players. Earlier, it was heard that board officials have approached him for this role.
