Afghanistan Cricket has evolved over the years they eventually played mature cricket for many years. Afghanistan Cricket recently showed their aggressive and intent to win matches in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and reached to semi-final.
Many political instances occurred as Taliban took over Afghanistan so the source of life for players was to play cricket and their players didn’t disappoint, even in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 they defeated teams like England, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka and they showed they are here to live for a long time.
UAE will witness the first bilateral series between Afghanistan and South Africa
Afghanistan has achieved many things past 2 years and they have made themselves as full-time member team their performance proves that they dethroned Australia in the T20 World Cup and knocked out of the World Cup which was the most highlighted moment of the World Cup. Jonathan Trott has played a huge role in developing Afghanistan Cricket and what we are seeing is the new Afghanistan Cricket which made them a team that will be also dangerous in the future. After a successful campaign in the T20 World Cup for the very first time Afghanistan will face South Africa as both teams after the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. It’s going to be exciting as both teams will face the first time Afghanistan has played brilliantly at the international level but in ODIs they need to gear up even more though they haven’t played smartly from now they too will get more exposure to ODI cricket. Chairman of CSA, Lawson Naidoo and ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf said:
“We are excited to embark on this historic ODI series with Afghanistan, who have become a very competitive all-round team as evidenced by their recent performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and most recently at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” Naidoo said.
“These fixtures were not initially part of our FTP. Still, based on our productive negotiations with our counterparts at Cricket South Africa, we concluded that we will host the Proteas for an ODI series in September,” Mirwais Ashraf, the ACB Chairman, said.
