ICC T20 WC 2026: Adam Zampa & Mitchell Marsh Knock Off Oman

Adam Zampa stood up and performed like we always know he does albeit a bit too late in the competition for Australia. Adam Zampa‘s 4-wicket haul skittled Oman and sank them to another low as Australia thrashed them left, right and centre. Oman were put into bat and never got going as Adam Zampa’s 4-wicket haul alongside Xavier Bartlett and Glenn Maxwell’s 2-wickets apiece helped them take regular wickets and skittled them out for 104 in 16.2 overs.

In reply, Mitchell Marsh the Australian captain dazzled under the spotlight and made another half century as he stayed unbeaten for 64 off 33 balls while Travis Head fell for 32 off 19 balls and Josh Inglis was unbeaten on 12 off 6 balls as the Aussies made the joint quickest chase chasing it down in 9.4 overs as the Aussies won by 9 wickets with 62 balls to spare. Hammad Mirza came out to bat next. Wasim Ali came out to bat next. The powerplay score was 47/3 in 6 overs for Oman which was decent but things were about to get worse from here.

Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 64 powered Australia to a 9-wicket win with more than 10 overs to spare

Chasing 105 for the win, captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head came out to open for Australia while Shafiq Jan had ball in hand for Oman. It was the Mitchell Marsh show from ball one as it allowed Travis Head to play himself in. But Marsh was looking in a different mood altogether. He wanted to finish the game quickly and hammered Oman who were listless to say the least.

Head hardly got the strike out there but when he did he played his shots as well. But Marsh was a cut above the rest as he smashed the bowlers as Australia reached 50 inside 5 overs and were 55/0 in 5 overs. They accelerated further and took the score of powerplay of Australia to 73/0 in 6 overs and the game was done and dusted. The damage did not stop there as even Head caressed through the covers for a boundary. Both of them complimented each other really well and showed what Australia are capable of if in song.
