Chasing 134 for the win, Brandon King and captain cum keeper Shai Hope came out to open the batting for West Indies while Karan KC had ball in hand for Nepal. It was not a blistering start for the West Indies but a steady one at that. They took their time as the required rate was not high and then accelerated later on. This chase was ideal for someone like Shai Hope as he could guide the chase through and that is what exactly what panned out.

King got a start but could not convert that into something substantial. The duo put on 43 for the first wicket in 5.3 overs and almost batted through the powerplay. But then King got out for 22 off 17 balls with 4 fours to his name to Nandan Yadav. Shimron Hetmyer came out to bat next. At the end of the powerplay, West Indies were 44/2 in 6 overs.

Hetmyer also took time initially to settle down but then he went big while Hope went in his own tempo. Hetmyer turned it on while Hope was also clinical. The duo did not give an inch to the Nepal bowlers and were taken to the cleaners. Hope also accelerated towards the end while Hetmyer was always on the move launching sixes for fun. The duo aced the middle phase by first not losing wickets and then raised the tempo of the innings. The duo were simply a joy to watch and even Sandeep went for runs today. It was a hard day for the bowlers of Nepal. They tried everything but had too low a score to defend.

Hope completed his half-century while Hetmyer was close to it as well. The duo added an unbeaten 91 run stand for the 2nd wicket with both players making equal contributions. Hope hit the winning runs as West Indies finished with 134/1 in 15.2 overs. Hope remained unbeaten on 61 off 44 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes to his name while Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 46 off 32 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to his name. 5 extras given by the fielding side.

It was a tough day for the Nepal bowlers. Nandan Yadav finished with 1/24 in 3 overs. He got the only wicket to fall. Karan KC finished with 0/12 in 2 overs. Sompal Kami finished with 0/23 in 2 overs. Sandeep Lamichhane finished with 0/38 in 3 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee finished with 0/19 in 3.2 overs. Kushal Bhurtel finished with 0/18 in 2 overs.
