Chasing 210 for a monumental win, Namibia after playing out an over or two came out all guns blazing and nailed the powerplay. The openers Jan Frylinck and Louren Steenkamp opened the batting and they took on the Indians from the word go. Arshdeep got a wicket but Namibia got close to 60 and have wickets in hand in powerplay. They continued to challenge and do the good work post the powerplay to leave the match in balance after halfway stage. ‘

Chasing 210 for the win, Louren Steenkamp and Jan Frylinck came out to open the batting for Namibia while Hardik Pandya had ball in hand for India. Hardik bowled a quiet first over. Arshdeep Singh came into the attack from the other end. Steenkamp managed to hit a boundary through point and backward point for a boundary. Hardik continued as Frylinck got onto the front foot and pumped it over the non-striker for a boundary. Frylinck went big with a hack over midwicket for the maximum.
Arshdeep Singh continued as Frylinck took full tole of him by hitting a boundary through mid-off and then hit it between midwicket and square leg for a boundary. Arshdeep hit back and gave India the first breakthrough as he removed Frylinck for 22 off 15 balls with 3 fours and one six to his name. It was a knuckle ball pitched around the off-stump as Frylinck picked it up and pulled it uppishly to deep midwicket fielder. Nicol Loftie Eaton came out to bat next. He got off the mark.
Shivam Dube came into the attack as Loftie Eaton survived a scare with the direct hit from Bumrah missing the stumps. Dube bowled a good first over. Arshdeep Singh came into the attack again. Steenkamp lofted it away to short third man and backward point for a boundary. He hit another boundary through mid-on region. The 50 came up for Namibia in 5.4 overs. Steenkamp hit a maximum over the bowler’s head to end the over and powerplay. Namibia were 57/1 in 6 overs at the end of the powerplay with Steenkamp on 29 off 16 balls and Loftie Eaton on 4 off 5 balls. Drinks was taken as well.

Jasprit Bumrah came into the attack post the powerplay. He started with wide and no balls while the southpaw got an outside edge that went away to the third man fence. Varun Chakaravarthy came into the attack next and he struck straightaway as he removed Steenkamp for 29 off 20 balls with 3 fours and one six to his name.
Googly from over the wicket full and pitching it outside the off-stump and skidded through and spun back into the stumps. Steenkamp stayed leg side of the ball and lunged forward to go for an expansive drive on the off-side and left a big gap between bat and pads. He was beaten all ends up on the inside edge as the ball hits the stumps as he failed to pick the variartion. Gerhard Erasmus came out to bat next and got off the mark as well.
Axar Patel came into the attack next. Erasmus went big and high over midwicket for the maximum. Erasmus went again and went over midwicket with a heave for the maximum. Varun continued and got rid of Loftie Eaton for 13 pff 13 balls with one four to his name.
He bowled from around the wicket a good length delivery outside the off-stump. Loftie Eaton came down the track for a big one and tried to break the shackles from his end but to the pitch of the ball and mistimed the lofted strike to long-off as Axar took the catch. JJ Smit came out to bat next and fell second ball for a silver duck. The googly full and outside the off-stump that spun back in. Smith sat down on one knee and went to slog sweep but failed to connect with the ball. He read the variation but failed to execute the stroke as the ball missed the inside edge and castled the off-stump.
Zane Green came out to bat next. Namibia were 88/4 in 10 overs with Green unbeaten on 1 off 1 ball and Erasmus on 18* off 10 balls. Halfway stage was passed.

Varun Chakaravarthy’s spell of 3 wickets has turned the tide in India’s favour. Namibia at 88/4 in 10 overs will need a miracle to win the contest from here. They have shown promise but have failed at crucial times. India’s game to lose now. Let’s see how the second half pans out from here.
