BAN VS NED: Ryan Cook Claims Bangladesh To Be A Good Side But Also Vulnerable.

Bangladesh and Netherlands are set to do battle in a 3-match T20I series starting on August 30th. All three matches of the series are slated to be played in Sylhet with the subsequent matches scheduled on September 1st and September 3rd. It’s going to be an interesting series as this will be a preparation for Bangladesh for the Asia Cup that follows while for the Dutch it is their first visit to Bangladesh.

Ryan Cook who is the head coach of Netherlands has worked with Bangladesh before and is happy to come back to the country. For the Dutch, it’s an opportunity to impress as they hardly get to play on the big stage against Test-member nations. Bangladesh are a test playing nation and will challenge the Dutch but in T20Is, anything can happen and so we should not be surprised if the Netherlands pulls off a surprise although Bangladesh at home will start as favourites.

Ryan Cook’s thoughts on the series ahead.

Netherlands head coach Ryan Cook has worked with the Bangladesh cricket team earlier. He exclaimed that he is happy to be back in the country but also sounded a warning to the hosts not to take Netherlands likely. Speaking to reporters, Ryan Cook said: “Bangladesh have played some good cricket recently, but also have shown that they are vulnerable in other series as well. So now we’ve come here confident that we can play a good game of cricket, and we know Bangladesh are going to come with a good style of cricket. They have some very good players, and in their home conditions, they are tough to play against.”

Cook concluded: “So, it’s going to be a great challenge for our guys. But we wouldn’t be here if we didn’t think we could win some games. And if we are drawn in the same groups again, we’d want to try and beat them again. So, I think from that perspective, we’ve gotta just take it for what it is in front of us, and we’re confident that we can use it.”

BAN VS NED: An Interesting Series On The Cards.

Netherlands travel to Bangladesh for the first time ever to play a bilateral series against the host nation. While the Dutch have been to Bangladesh before for multi-nation events, they haven’t faced the hosts in bilateral cricket. This 3 T20I series a quick one at Sylhet will be entertaining and will be for great viewing as well. For Bangladesh, it’s a preparation for the Asia Cup 2025 starting very soon after this tournament.

Litton Das is on a winning streak as captain in T20Is as he has clinched bilateral series wins against West Indies, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. So, he will be confident and would like to add one more to his tally in order to get confidence ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. The squad picked for Netherlands matches will be the exact same squad for that sub-continental event. They have excluded ODI skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz and former skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto as well, but they have a nice blend of youth and experience to do well and will definitely be favourites against the Dutch.

Netherlands come into this series playing a lot of associate cricket but this is the stage where they will get noticed as playing a full Test member nation gets you get noticed. They have got quality players in their ranks and playing the shortest format of the game means they can upset the apple cards and upset Bangladesh at home although that won’t be easy. Scott Edwards leads them as usual and they have Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Aryan Dutt to name a few. Guys that we have seen in multi-nation events are all there to challenge Bangladesh.

The series promises to be exciting and we shall see if Netherlands challenge Bangladesh at home. But if we talk about pre-series predictions, then definitely Bangladesh starts this series as favourites and should win this series. Let’s see how things pan out later tonight at Sylhet.
