RCB continues its domination in away games. It’s 5 wins in a row for them now away from home. Except Chinnaswamy, nothing is stopping them this season. Virat Kohli showed his class once again while chasing the target. RCB quite comfortably chased down the target of 158 runs with 7 wickets in hand and 7 balls left in the match.
67th fifty for Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli scored his 59th half-century in IPL yesterday, overall his 67th fifty-plus score, including 8 hundreds. He now holds the record for the most 50+ scores in IPL. He went past David Warner yesterday, who has 66 fifty-plus scores to his name.
David Warner holds the record for the most half-centuries in IPL ( 62 ). Virat Kohli needs 4 more fifties to break that record as well. With his current form, there are high chances that he will break that in this season itself.
M.O.M. award feat for Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli won the Man of the Match award for his match-winning knock of 73 runs off 54 balls. He anchored the innings well and never allowed Punjab to come into the game. He equaled the record of most M.O.M awards among Indians with Rohit Sharma.
Both have won 19 MOM awards in IPL so far. But Rohit Sharma broke this record immediately in the next match against CSK and became the first Indian to win 20 M.O.M awards in IPL. Healthy competition between two stalwarts of India.
Chase Master
Virat Kohli is known as the “chase master” both in IPL and international cricket. He loves to chase the target. He plans his innings very well and accelerates at the right time in chases. Yesterday, he scored an unbeaten 73 runs off 54 balls while chasing 158 against PBKS.
This is the 12th time he has remained unbeaten in a successful chase in IPL. He equaled the record for most time remaining Unbeaten in a successful run chase with Shikhar Dhawan. Both have done it 12 times. The chase master will soon own the top spot in this record as well.
Virat Kohli’s form in away games
Virat Kohli has scored 322 runs in 8 innings in IPL 2025 so far. He played 3 games at Chinnaswamy and scored just 30 runs in his IPL home ground. But in the 5 matches away from home, he had scored 292 runs with 4 half-centuries. His lowest score away from home was 31 runs. His highest score at Chinnaswamy is just 22.
His form is also affecting RCB’s victory at home. Hope he finds his form and relieves RCB from the home ground curse.
