CSK vs KKR: Records Galore After KKR Beat CSK

After a two-year absence, MS Dhoni returned to captain the side as skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out for the season due to an elbow injury. But the comeback was not a memorable event for him. CSK suffered a humiliating 8-wicket loss against KKR. This is their 3rd loss in their home turf this season.

Another team broke the Chepauk Jinx

Earlier in this season, RCB and DC broke their losing streak at Chepauk. KKR also joined the list yesterday. They registered their first win at Chepauk against CSK 13 years after the 2012 final. CSK is struggling on their home ground for the first time.

They have lost 3 out of 4 home games so far. Spinners are their main strength, and their home boy Ashwin struggling to take wickets is a big setback. The batting unit is a complete failure this season, apart from one or two; none of the other batters are in form and are struggling to score runs.

Lowest score by CSK at Chepauk

CSK scored 103 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. This is CSK’s lowest score at Chepauk. Before this, they scored 109 runs against the Mumbai Indians in 2019. KKR broke the 6-year record of MI. Overall, this is the second-lowest score at Chepauk. RCB’s 70 runs all-out against CSK in 2019 remains at the top.

Fastest chase against CSK

KKR chased the target in 10.1 overs yesterday. This is the fastest chase against CSK. MI chased 115 runs in 12.2 overs in 2020 season was the previous record.  KKR broke the 5-year record of MI.

5 consecutive losses

After the win against MI in the first match, CSK have lost 5 matches in a row now. This is the first time that CSK have lost 5 consecutive matches in the history of IPL.

Oldest Captain in IPL

Yesterday, when MS Dhoni walked in for the toss, he became the oldest captain in IPL history ( 43 years 278 days ). He broke his own record, which he created 2 years before ( 41 years 325 days ). He is going to captain the side for the rest of the season in the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

MS Dhoni’s win% % as captain

After yesterday’s loss, Dhoni’s win percentage dropped from 58.84% to 58.59%. He steps down to second place in the list of captains with the highest win% % in IPL ( minimum 50 matches ). Sachin climbs to the first place with 58.82% in 51 matches.

Hope CSK does well in the upcoming matches and Dhoni climbs to the top of the list again.
