PBKS vs CSK: “We Are The Best Team”- Yuzvendra Chahal Gives A Warning To IPL Teams

Yuzvendra Chahal, the veteran Indian leg-spinner and a crucial member of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, has shown immense confidence in his new IPL team, Punjab Kings, as they chase their maiden IPL title in the 2025 season. PBKS suffered a massive defeat against RR where they lost by a margin of 50 runs.

PBKS’ top order got exposed when Shreyas Iyer & Priyansh Arya got out in first over itself. There are concerns over Glenn Maxwell’s consistency & also his shot selection. PBKS’ next encounter is against CSK on Tuesday 8th April at Mullanpur, who are in all sorts of trouble after losing 3 back-to-back matches in the tournament and are langusishing at 9th position in points table with 2 points to their name

We have a very balanced team- Yuzvendra Chahal

Having joined the Mohali-based franchise for a whopping Rs 18 crore in the previous mega auction, Yuzvendra Chahal believes Punjab Kings have the perfect combination to dominate the season. Despite a slow start to his individual performance — just one wicket in three games — Chahal remains positive about the team’s journey under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.

“We are coming in the top 2; we are the best team. If you look at the bowling and batting, we have 7-8 options in bowling. If you look at the batting, we have 9-10 options. We have a very balanced side. I think it’s a very good sign that the team will be a champion this year. Our focus is on finishing in the top two and securing a place in the playoffs,” said Chahal during the JioHotstar Press Room interaction.

Strong Team Chemistry and Positive Outlook

The seasoned spinner praised the atmosphere within the Punjab Kings camp, pointing to the healthy team dynamics as a key factor behind their early success.

“The team environment is really good. We are like a family. We are treating everyone equally. We are really enjoying both on and off the field,” he added.

Though his current wicket tally may not reflect his usual form, Chahal isn’t fazed. His eyes are set on the bigger goal — helping Punjab Kings lift the IPL trophy.

“We have only played three matches so far. There is a long way to go. The team has won two matches, and my focus is on making the team win. That’s about it. The tournament has just started, and I am finding my rhythm. I am enjoying my bowling. If we win the trophy and I don’t take a single wicket, I’ll take that every day,” said Chahal.

Price Tag Pressure? Not a Concern for Yuzvendra Chahal

When questioned about the significant Rs 18 crore price tag, Chahal confidently responded:

“I deserve this price tag. When you are playing, you don’t think about what price you fetched in the auction. Whether you go for INR 6 crore or INR 18 crore, it is the same mindset, and you just want to make the team win,”
