Charl Langeveldt, the ex South Africa cricket quick bowler has been hired for the position of the bowling coach for Zimbabwe men’s national cricket team. Stuar Matsikenyeri, the ex Zimbabwe batsman who had been working as a head coach of this side before Justin Sammons finally being given permanent appointment, has also been retained in the team in the capacity of a fielding coach.

The appointments were ratified by the Mhishi Committee of Inquiry that was tasked to look into the team’s lack of qualification to the recently concluded T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
Disappointment and Fallout: Zimbabwe’s T20 World Cup Missed Opportunity
A Zimbabwe side that was almost at their full-strength were narrowly edged out by Namibia and Uganda for the two positions from the Africa Region Qualifier in November 2023. This led to the resignation of Dave Houghton as the head coach, the former Zimbabwe captain claimed that players were not responding to him anymore.
Coaching Interim Measures
However, Walter Chawaguta had briefly replaced Matsikenyeri as the head coach during the absence of the latter while the later assumed the team’s coaching responsibilities prior to their Bangladesh tour in April.
Since his last association with any international team, he was part of Afghanistan’s team till the end of the last year’s One Day International World Cup in India. He has also been involved coaching the Bangladeshi and South African sides.
