SRH vs MI : 3 Reasons For SRH’s Defeat Against MI

SRH lost another match because of their batting failure. The struggle of SRH batters continued on a bit two-paced fast wicket which assisted them. MI clinched another dominating win and are roaring upwards in the points table, and now at 3rd position with 5 wins from 9 matches. Let’s look at the reasons for SRH’s defeat against MI

Poor Shot selection

SRH batters play in the same mode in every condition. They are refusing to adapt to the match situation and construct partnerships.  It was again a bad day for the top order, which led to a batting collapse at 13-4 in 3.3 overs, but was saved by Henrich Klaasen and impact player Abhinav Manohar to post a respectable total on board.

The top 4 batters got out for single digits within the powerplay, and that created immense pressure on the middle order. They took some time to settle and rebuild a partnership, so they couldn’t go for a big score like 180 or 190.

MI batters performed well on the same pitch. The pitch was a bit slow, and the ball was stopping a bit in the wicket. SRH batters didn’t take the body on the line of the ball and just went for the shots with hand-eye coordination. They tried to play the ball earlier, which is not the ideal technique to play on the slow wicket.

MI batters waited for the ball and played the shot very late under their eyes, which helped them to time the ball well. They adapted their technique according to the pitch conditions, which SRH batters failed to do.

Brain fade moment from Ishan Kishan

Deepak Chahar got the wicket of Ishan Kishan in the first ball of the 3rd over. The ball went down the leg, and the keeper and bowler didn’t appeal for it. Only Captain Hardik Pandya appealed from the Mid-on. Umpire Vinod was about to signal wide, and he saw Ishan Kishan walking back, and changed his decision to out.

MI players appreciated the honesty of Ishan Kishan. But later, when analysing with the ultra-edge, it clearly shows the ball missed the bat, and there was a huge gap between the ball and the bat. The ball was not even close to the bat. We can say that Ishan Kishan gifted his wicket to his former team.

Two early wickets for 9 runs in 2.1 overs put more pressure on the team and boosted the momentum of the opponents.

Impact player risk costed SRH

SRH were reduced to 35/5 in 8.3 overs, and were forced to bring in Abhinav Manohar in place of Travis Head as an impact sub. Abhinav did his job well by scoring 43 runs in 37 balls and hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes and saved his team from collapse as the team was reduced at 35-5 in 8.3 overs. But, because of this move, they couldn’t bring Mohammed Shami in the second innings, who was one of their prime bowlers with the new ball.

They fell short of a bowler, which put them in the backseat while already defending the low target of 144 runs. Even Pat Cummins was taken to the cleaners with conceding 31 runs in his 3 over spell, which hurt SRH massively.
