RR vs GT : Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Merciless Ton & RR’s Win Over GT Breaks Records

RR defeated the table-toppers GT by 8 wickets, which surprised everyone as chasing 210 with 8 wickets in hand and with more than 4 overs remaining is a very rare thing. This is the beauty of this league: anyone can beat anyone. 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi entered the records book and announced his arrival at the big stage in style.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi the Youngest Centurion

Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a hundred at senior level cricket. He is the youngest to score a triple-digit score in T20s as well. He broke the 12-year-old record of Vijay Zol, who scored a century for Maharashtra at the age of 18 in 2013 against Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.

He scored 101 runs from 38 balls (*11 sixes and 7 fours were hit by him) and was awarded the Man of the Match award for his performance. He also became the youngest player to win the Man of the Match award in the IPL.

He became the youngest player to score a century in IPL, beating the record of Manish Pandey, who scored a century in IPL 2009, at the age of 19.

Fastest Century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored his 100 in 35 balls. This is the fastest century by an Indian in IPL. He broke the 15-year-old record of Yusuf Pathan, who scored his century in 37 balls in 2010. Overall, this is the second fastest century in the league, after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is also the fastest Indian to score a century in IPL in terms of innings. He scored a hundred in his 3rd IPL innings. Priyansh Arya, scored a century in his 4th innings against CSK, in the same season. Vaibhav broke that record as well.

Batting successful run-chase of more than 200 first time by RR

This is the second time, more than 200 runs have been chased successfully at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. SRH chased 215 against RR in 2023. That is the first instance in this stadium,m and that remains as the highest runs chased at this venue.

For the first time, RR chased a 200-plus target at their home ground.

Fastest 200-run chase

RR chased the target in 15.5 overs. This is the fastest chase ever in IPL when the target is above 200. RCB chased 201 in 2024 in 16 overs was the previous record. Interestingly, both the innings came against GT on the same date, April 28th.
