PBKS vs DC: Mitchell Owen Gets Signed By PBKS; Replaces Injured Glenn Maxwell

PBKS has signed BBL star Mitchell Owen as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury. Mitchell Owen, currently part of Peshawar Zalmi in PSL, will fly to India soon to join Punjab Kings.

Mitchell Owen has played for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League since 2021. He became popular after his match-winning knock in the BBL 2024-25 Finals against the Sydney Thunder by scoring 108 runs off just 42 balls, leading his team to their maiden BBL title.

Mitchell Owne performed well in the whole tournament by scoring 452 runs in 11 matches. He is also a handy part-time right arm medium pacer.He registered himself for the mega auction, but was not shortlisted in the final draft. Since he has registered, he was eligible to signed in as a replacement.

Mitchell Own was called as a replacement for another Aussie Glenn Maxwell, who was ruled out of IPL due to a fracture in finger. Ricky Ponting called his fellow Tasmanian for the replacement. Punjab and Aussie players always had a great chemistry.

They had Australian legends in the past like Adam Gilchrist, Shaun Marsh, Brett Lee, David Hussey, George Bailey, Mitchell Johnson, Darcy Short, Mathew Short, Andrew Tye, and this year they got Maxwell back along with Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis.

Mitchell Owen will join this list now.

PSL

Mitchell Owen is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. PSL ends on May 18. Peshawar has three league matches left, which end on May 9. If they qualify for the playoffs, then the arrival of Mitchell Owen might get delayed.

He will join the PBKS squad only after the campaign of Peshawar Zalmi ends. If they qualify for the finals, then Mitchell Owen will be joining PBKS squad only for the playoffs of IPL.

He was not initially signed by Peshawar Zalmi. He came in as a replacement for Cosbin Bosch, who left PSL in the mid tournament to join Mumbai Indians, where he was called as the replacement for injured Lizard Williams. PCB banned him from PSL for one year for breaching the contract.

Mitchell Owen won’t face any action because he will stay with Peshawar until their campaign ends.
