Bangladesh skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto aims for another historic Test win against India after seizing the Test series against Pakistan by 2-0. The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh starts September 19th, 2024.
Bangladesh is gearing up for another Test series against India in September. The Test series consists of two matches. The first Test match will be from September 19th-September 23rd at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the second Test match between September 27th- October 1st. After a long wait of five months, India will play their second Test series of 2024. Previously, India played their first Test series in March against England.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto Credits Bowlers For The Win
After winning the Test series against Pakistan away from home, Bangladesh’s captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto commended spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took five wickets in the second Test match against Pakistan. The Bangladesh spinner grabbed Saim Ayub (58 off 110) and Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood’s(57 off 69) wickets. Both the batters had scored half-centuries, and Miraz chopped off a partnership and shifted the momentum to Bangladesh. Later, Miraz sent Pakistan’s Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, and Abrar Ahmed to the pavilion. Hence, he grabbed five wickets in the first innings against Pakistan.
Therefore, skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto expects the spinner to replicate against India in the upcoming Test series. According to the Bangladeshi captain, the win against Pakistan will boost their confidence against India. Nazmul Hossain Shanto also named all-rounder Shakib AL Hasan and wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim as the assets to their team in performing against India. Nazmul Hossain Shanto said in post-match comments (via Cricbuzz), that,
“(On Miraz) The way he bowled and took 5 wickets in these conditions is very impressive, and hope he can do the same against India. Next series is very important and this win gives us a lot of confidence. We have a lot of experience in Mushi and Shakib, and they will be important in India.”
Nazmul Hossain Shanto seemed extremely happy with the team’s performance against Pakistan. The captain commended Bangladesh’s bowlers and credited the win to them. The bowlers of Bangladesh took a total of 36 wickets in the series. He said,
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was awarded as the Player of the Series of the two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The spinnenr grabbed ten wicket sin two matches against Pakistan. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also showcased his batting talent in the second Test. He scored 78 off 124 deliveries. Apart from him another excellent performance was executed by Liton Das, who scored 138 off 228 balls in the second Test.
