Former England captain Michael Vaughan trolled India over their BGT loss down under. Pointing his comments to the Kohli-Konstas incident, Michael Vaughan said Australia dominated after the first three test matches. India did well in the first test but later on, they did not manage to win a single game out of 4.

Michael Vaughan said India was blown away after the first test match and he cheekily commented that India shoulder-barged the Aussies but they could not throw a punch at them. Australia’s bowling attack was too good for India in those conditions down under.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Sunday, January 5, Australia defeated India by six wickets to recapture the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a ten-year absence. The visitors were swept out for 157 after starting their second innings at 141-6. Then, after chasing 162 in just 27 overs, the Australians easily won.

Michael Vaughan Trolls Virat’s Should Barge

Vaughan expressed his opinions about the India-Australia series, saying that the Indians were “blown away” by their surprising victory in Perth and simply couldn’t defeat the Australians for the remainder of the series. The former England captain made the following statement when appearing on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast:

“India win the first game in Perth, played great. Since then, they’ve been blown away, really… You’ve got to say this series, as much as it’s been brilliant cricket, a lot of it, particularly the last three games, has been very one-sided. Australia has managed to get the upper hand and play some great cricket and India have not been able to find a way of kind of throwing a punch back.

“They’ve thrown a shoulder barge back, but they haven’t been able to throw a punch back,” Michael Vaughan went on to add.

Throughout the entire series, Team India was mostly reliant on main pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The 31-year-old put on an incredible display, taking 32 wickets at an average of 13.06, including two four-fers and three five-fers. But because of back spasms, he was unable to bowl on Day 3 of the SCG Test.

Senior Batters Let India Down

The visitors suffered greatly as a result of senior batsman Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma’s lack of effect in BGT 2024–25. In nine innings, Kohli amassed 190 runs at an average of 23.75. Throughout the series, he continued to succumb to deliveries outside off stump despite hitting an undefeated century in Perth.

After missing the first Test for personal reasons, Rohit only managed to score 31 runs at an average of 6.20 in five innings. Because of his terrible batting form, he chose not to play in the most recent Test match in Sydney.
