Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their league stage with a statement win, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium. Chasing a big target of 227, Jitesh Sharma smashed an unbeaten 85 off 33 balls—breaking MS Dhoni’s record for the fastest fifty by a wicketkeeper in IPL history. Supported by Virat Kohli’s 54, RCB completed the chase in just 18.3 overs.
With this win, RCB sealed second place on the points table and booked a spot in Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings. They also became the first team ever to win all seven away games in a single IPL season.
RCB thrives & decimates LSG
In Lucknow’s breeze, beneath the sun,
RCB walked in, their job not done.
The toss was theirs, they chose to chase,
With playoff dreams and a title race.
LSG began with a Marshy high,
Mitch’s 67 made the scoreboard fly.
Rishabh Pant, the heart, the flame,
Struck 118 — a captain’s game.
He danced through drives, swept through spin,
With 11 fours and 8 soaring in.
With Pooran’s flash and extras bright,
They stacked up 227 by the night.
Thushara cool with 1/26,
While Bhuvi and Shepherd picked up their fix.
But RCB knew they had to reply,
With calm and courage in their eye.
Phil Salt played crisp, a 30-run tease,
Till Digvesh caught him with graceful ease.
Then came the King — calm and bold,
Virat’s 54 — classic gold.
Patidar flared, Livingstone fell,
The crowd grew tense, you could almost tell.
But Agarwal stood with a warrior’s grin,
As Jitesh Sharma began to spin—
Not with the ball, but willow wide,
85 off 33, with fearless pride.
He smashed and swept, he scooped and flew,
Fastest keeper-fifty, records anew.
Two sixes here, a boundary there,
RCB chased like they just didn’t care.
In 18.4, the job was done,
A 6-wicket win, second place won.
With 230/4, they sealed their fate,
To Qualifier 1, they won’t be late.
First team ever — a rare delight,
To win seven away games outright!
