IPL 2025: “Mohammed Shami Has Made A Comeback” – Aakash Chopra Delighted With The Fast Bowler’s Resurgence

Mohammed Shami’s performance for India is a standout, and his skills recently showed during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Mohammed Shami recently took a  four-wicket haul against Madhya Pradesh while playing for his team Bengal. Mohammed Shami has not been picked by BCCI selection panel for BGT 2024-25 as he wasn’t 100% fit.

Mohammad Shami faces challenges this year regarding his Ankle injury. Cricket during Ankle Injury is normal but injury recovery and rehabilitation are most important for players otherwise it’s high risk. He is mostly out of competitive cricket for this year but he is never stop. He is working on rehabilitation and fitness during this year.

Mohammad Shami’s injury occurred during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia. He played the semi final against New Zealand with ankle pain and struggles with this injury but he plays well during the final. He took 7 wickets for 57 runs in his 10 overs. He delivered a standout performance making him the leading.

Mohammad Shami is almost this year out of competitive after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final against Australia but recently he has come back with his extraordinary performance during Ranji Trophy 2024-25. His successful return to Bengal against Madhya Pradesh. He took 4 wickets for 54 runs in 19 overs.

“Mohammed Shami has made a comeback. Based on the visuals I saw, the same rhythm was not seen. However, he has played after a year. He was playing against MP, and don’t know how the match is progressing, Bengal scored more than 220 in 51 overs and bowled 30 overs on the same day. He has picked up four wickets,” he said

Aakash Chopra appreciates his skill, talent, and standout performance. Mohammad Shami is a star player for India. With his comeback and Ranji Trophy performance, he is considered for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia.

“The ball was swinging and coming out nicely from the hand, but the lines were wide, based on the short video clip I could see. Since the auction is on the 24th and 25th, if you don’t play for a year, there is a question mark, people think a little before lifting the paddle, that what if he is not fit. So from that viewpoint, it’s good that he played because now he will get the money that he deserves at the auction,” he added.

“We want him back in full swing because if you feel he is fully fit, he is playing the Ranji Trophy in any case, consider him for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He can potentially play the last two matches, the Boxing Day Test match, and the New Year’s Test match,” said Aakash Chopra while speaking on his You Tube channel.

Mohammad Shami’s IPL Journey

Mohammad Shami started his IPL journey in 2011 his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) he played for them until 2013 after that from 2014 to 2018 he played for Delhi Capitals (DC), Shami joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) from 2019 to 2020. In 2022 Shami played a Gujrat Titans (GT) after his injury Gujrat Titans released Mohammad Shami in 2025.

Mohammad Shami played a crucial role in 2022 for GT’s title-winning campaign. He took 20 wickets in 16 games. His Overall IPL performance is outstanding these numbers are incredible. His IPL total matches are 110 and his wickets 127.

His bowling best figures are 4/11  figures he achieved during the IPL multiple times. His economy rate is 8.4 runs per over this run rate and the figures are super fantastic. He claimed a purple cap in 2023 with 28 wickets in 17 matches.
