Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement on Saturday and many people reacted and congratulated him on his retirement. Shikhar Dhawan had a brilliant career and excellence in ICC events is next to the best thing India has helped in those years.
Shikhar Dhawan has played all formats but hasn’t had much chance in test cricket. However, his domestic career was great and he had the potential to play all three formats but with injuries concerned, he was sidelined from test cricket.
Madan Sharma feels Shikhar Dhawan should have played more test cricket
Shikhar Dhawan’s childhood coach Madan Sharma expressed his views after knowing about Shikhar’s retirement, Shikhar Dhawan was a great player of white ball but his arms were rolled enough with the bat to know everyone that he too belonged to red-ball cricket but as far as injuries were harassing him he stood out from that format and focused on white ball cricket and rest is history. Madan Sharma said:
“I always believed that Shikhar should play at least 70-80 Test matches in his career. He had so much potential in his batting,” Sharma asserted. “And even in white-ball cricket, I wanted him to play more than 200 ODI matches. But maybe in-between injuries did hamper his career at times.”
“In the 2019 World Cup, he was ruled out with injury after playing two games. He was in good form then and had scored a century against Australia which India won but the injury came at the wrong time.”
