IPL 2025: 3 Best Knocks By RCB

(3)Chris Gayle’s Storm vs PWI 2012

This Happened in the 2013 season. Chris Gayle was an absolute peak at that time. He was raining sixes in every match. Unfortunately, Pune Warriors India (PWI) had to witness the brutal sixes of Gayle on that day. RCB batted first and it was all about Gayle again. He started bashing every bowler for fun and crossed his century in just 30 balls which still stands as the fastest century in T20 cricket history.

Chris Gayle didn’t stop there. The storm continued till the end of the innings. Many records were broken on that day. Gayle registered the highest individual score in T20 cricket. He scored 175 runs off 66 balls and remained not out. RCB scored 263 runs in 20 overs which is the then-highest total in T20’s. This innings will always remain as an iconic innings of IPL history.

(2)Virat Kohli 8 Stitches & Glorious Ton vs PBKS 2016

In 2016 IPL, Virat Kohli was at the prime peak of his career. It was a league match against Kings X1 Punjab and a must-win match for RCB to be in the playoff race. Virat had an injury before the match and got 8 stitches in his finger in his right hand. The match was affected by rain and reduced to 15 overs. RCB needs to score runs quickly. Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle opened the Innings and Gayle storm started.

Virat was scoring quick runs too but Gayle’s innings made it look like a supporting knock. Gayle scored 73 runs of 32 balls and got out in the 11th over. The score was already 147 runs in 11 overs. From there, Kohli took charge. He accelerated his innings like never before. In no time he completed his century.

After scoring his hundred, Virat celebrated it by showing his injured finger to the dressing room. He scored 113 runs off 50 balls. RCB scored 211 runs in 15 overs and in reply Punjab could manage only 120 runs. RCB won the match comfortably by 91 runs. That finger celebration will always be remembered by RCB fans.

(1)Rajat Patidar’s Playoff heroics against LSG in IPL 2022

It was always said that RCB are more dependent on their top order and star players like Kohli and ABD. That was also said to be one of the reasons for them not being able to win the trophy.

In IPL 2022, RCB qualified for the playoffs and faced the new team Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. RCB batted first and their star players like Virat, Faf, and Maxwell got out soon. But then, a youngster named Rajat Patidhar stood up and performed for RCB. He brought his ‘A’ game out and smashed LSG bowlers all around the ground.

He became the First RCB batter to score a century in the IPL playoffs. He scored 112 runs of 54 balls and stayed in the crease till the end. With the help of his century, RCB scored 207 runs in 20 overs. LSG fought well but couldn’t cross the line. They scored 193 runs and RCB won the match by 14 runs.

An Indian domestic player performing for RCB at the biggest stage of IPL playoffs is a great achievement for the franchise and he gave hope to the RCB management to invest on Indian youngsters too rather than running behind big names.
