In response to the West Indies’ 162 runs, Indian batters came out flying colors. KL Rahul was the architect in chief of India’s innings, and his unbeaten knock of 53 runs in 114 balls. KL Rahul‘s calm & composed batting style negated the threat of West Indies’ bowlers as India now is only 41 runs behind in 1st innings.
KL Rahul shines amidst a mini batting collapse
Yashasvi Jaiswal was quite watchful against the new ball, which was quite pleasing to the eyes. The surface, which already had ample demons in it, West Indies’ quicks, Jayden Seales, was bowling his heart out. KL Rahul was leaving the off-stump channel deliveries smartly as the surface was misbehaving immensely.

Yashasvi Jaiswal & KL Rahul got the team off to a terrific start as at the end of 18 overs, India’s score was 68-0. There was a short rain interruption or we can say a thunderstorm, which delayed the game. Jayden Seales, who was bowling the 19th over, got a huge wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal after a lot of hard work, as Yashasvi’s arduous work somewhat went in vain.
B Sai Sudharsan’s failure; KL Rahul stands tall
The introduction of Roston Chase against B Sai Sudharsan got the West Indies the result. Sai Sudharsan was trapped by Roston Chase in 25th over as he failed to pick a fast short delivery, as he misjudged the line & length. India’s score was 90-2 in 24.5 overs, we can say just a bit shaky start, but well ahead in the match as they were behind by only 72 runs.

KL Rahul, along with Shubman Gill, made sure that the scoreboard kept on ticking. KL Rahul was quite cautious in his approach so was Shubman Gill, as there was more than ample time left in the match. Roston Chase marshalled his troops but Shubman & KL bailed out India without any damage in the evening session.
What lies ahead on Day 2 for India & West Indies
India well truly is in the driver’s seat as they are trailing by a mere 41 runs. Shubman Gill & KL Rahul would be aiming to bat the whole day and take a mammoth lead in excess of 300 on Day 2 to completely take the game away from the West Indies. With only 38 overs bowled in the match, West Indies needs to grind a lot and needs wickets like 5 for 40 runs to make a comeback, as this wicket is going to deteriorate massively. West Indies need no less than a miracle to change their fortunues.
