IND vs SA: South Africa Complete Clean Sweep With Dominant Win

South Africa came out all guns blazing after Tea and picked up the remaining wickets quickly to finish things off as Simon Harmer completed yet another 6-wicket haul while the other bowlers chipped in as India were bowled out for 140 with only Ravindra Jadeja showing some resistance with his half-century. But it was a bridge too far for the Indians.

South Africa strike twice in the first hour to inch closer to the win. 

Ravindra Jadeja and Sai Sudharsan came out to resume proceedings for India while Senuran Muthusamy had ball in hand for the first time in the innings. Muthusamy started his spell by conceding a boundary as he bowled a juicy full toss which Jadeja drove the ball past the right of mid-off for a boundary. Muthusamy hit back and got rid of Sudharsan for 14 off 139 balls with one four to his name.

Muthusamy bowled a flighted delivery full around the fifth stump that pitched and straightened. Sudharsan lunged forward to defend and got a thick outside edge as Markram took a comfortable catch at first slip. Washington Sundar came out to bat first next. Marco Jansen came back into the attack. Sundar hit Jansen by flicking it away through backward square leg for a boundary. The 100 came up for India in 48.4 overs.

Muthusamy continued and kept things under check. Jansen continued and bowled a maiden over. Muthusamy bowled another maiden over. Jansen bowled another probing over. Muthusamy bowled a decent over. Jansen continued and bowled another good over. Muthusamy bowled another good over. Simon Harmer came back into the attack and was welcomed with a boundary by Jadeja as he pressed forward and thumped it over the bowler’s head for a boundary. Muthusamy continued as Jadeja got down on one knee and swept it away to the fine leg fence for a boundary.

Harmer continued and bowled another good over. Sundar then swept Muthusamy for a boundary down to the fine leg fence. Jadeja hit Harmer for a boundary by slamming the ball over the bowler’s head for a boundary to long-off. But Harmer hit back and got rid of Sundar for 16 off 44 balls with 2 fours to his name. Harmer bowled a back of a length delivery around the fifth stump that gripped and turned away. Sundar hung back and poked at it and got a thick outside edge that flew quickly to Markram at first slip who showed quick reflexes and took a sharp catch with both hands.

Nitish Kumar Reddy came out to bat next. Maharaj continued as Jadeja took him on and swung across the line heaving it away over wide long-on for the maximum as he got to his 28th Test fifty in 78 balls as this was the lone hand for India. India were 136/7 in 61.1 overs when the ball was lost due to the six hit and the umpires paused to take Drinks.

Maharaj continued his over as Jadeja got hit on the ribs and was in pain but he got up and recovered. Harmer continued and got his 6th wicket in the innings as he removed Nitish Kumar Reddy for a bronze duck. Harmer from over the wicket bowled full and outside the off-stump, Nitish went for the unrequired reverse sweep. The ball spun back in and took Reddy’s gloves. Verreynne was vigilant behind the stumps and claimed a sharp catch. Jasprit Bumrah came out to bat next.

Bumrah got off the mark soon. Maharaj continued and got rid of Jadeja for 54 off 87 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to his name. Maharaj bowled a good length delivery well flighted delivery outside the off-stump line. Jadeja danced down the track to muscle it into the leg side and got completely deceived as Verreynne collected the ball comfortably and whipped the bails off despite Jadeja diving and attempted to make his ground back. The TV umpire was called in and Jadeja was way short of his crease. Mohammed Siraj came out to bat next.

Siraj survived a stumping chance as his foot was grounded in the crease. Maharaj got the last wicket as well as Siraj was dismissed for a 4-ball duck. Maharaj flighted it up fuller in length on the off-stump line turning away. Siraj on the front foot swung hard down the ground. The ball went up in the air and away from Jansen who ran a long way from long-on towards his left dived and took a one-handed stunner to end the game. Bumrah was unbeaten on 1 off 2 balls as India were bowled out for 140 in 63.5 overs. 16 extras given by the fielding side.

Simon Harmer was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa with figures of 6/37 in 23 overs. Keshav Maharaj chipped in with 2/37 in 12.5 overs. Senuran Muthusamy finished with 1/21 in 7 overs. Marco Jansen finished with 1/23 in 15 overs. Aiden Markram bowled 2 overs for 2 runs and Wiaan Mulder bowled 4 overs for 6 runs. So, South Africa won by a whopping 408 runs and clean sweep the series 2-0. Marco Jansen was awarded the Player of the Match Award while Simon Harmer was awarded the Player of the Series Award.

What Lies Ahead. 

The Test series is done and dusted with South Africa dominating India and winning 2-0. Next up is the 3-match ODI series starting with the first ODI in Ranchi on Sunday 30th November, 2025 at 1:30 PM IST. It remains to be seen whether India can bounce back in the white-ball leg of the series. Let’s see how things shape up in Ranchi.
