Former Pakistan’s No. 1 spinner Saeed Ajmal has opined that Pakistan and India should play cricket matches against each other in their respective countries, citing that there is a lot of love between the two countries. India hasn’t played a bilateral series since 2012-13 against Pakistan as one of the greatest rivalry on earth has become extinct as the two nations only play in Asia Cup and ICC tournaments. Even BCCI hasn’t fully agreed to play ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan where they have the rights for the tourney as there are high chances that the tournament would be played in a hybrid model with India’s matches in UAE or Sri Lanka.
India last toured Pakistan in 2008, owing to the latter hosting the Asia Cup there. The cricket fans of both countries have not seen the Test series between the archrivals since 2007. Some Indian cricket experts even don’t want India to play Pakistan in ICC event as there is a lot of political tension between the two nations and we should not forget that PCB has had 4 different multiple chairmen since last 4 years which says there is a lot of uncertainty in the board.
There is a lot of love between India & Pakistan- Saeed Ajmal
“Even if the India versus Pakistan match happens on the moon, it will be huge. There is a lot of love between India and Pakistan, and we must go to each other’s countries,” said Ajmal on the sidelines of the GloFans High School Cricket Cup launch that will take place in Sharjah and Ajman in November.
Star spinner Ajmal tipped his hats for spectacular batter of the modern era.
““I like Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Babar Azam, and Rohit Sharma; they are good players.” He also lauded fast-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was Player of the Tournament in India’s triumph at the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup. “Bumrah is a very intelligent bowler, and intelligence is required with speed,” he concluded.
Ajmal played for Pakistan in 35 tests, grabbing 178 wickets, while he snared 184 Odi and 85 T20I scalps from 113 Odis and 64 T20I, respectively. Despite being a world no. 1 Odi bowler at times, he surprisingly never won a Man-of-the-Match award in his career, which will remain an astonishing fact about him
forever.
