India won the ICC T20 World Cup after 17 years and finally finished the drought of 11 years. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma India evolved much and in T20 format they were quiet engrossed and were hungry to win the title after the loss of ODI World Cup 2023.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20IS and even head coach Rahul Dravid too end his tenure after winning T20 World Cup.

Dale Steyn lauds Gautam Gambhir

After concluding T20 World Cup Rahul Dravid also ends his tenure as head coach and after few days BCCI announced the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as new head coach of India’s men’s national team. We all know Gautam Gambhir brings a kind of discipline and have his own style which will help Indian team to shape in a new way. Gautam Gambhir won 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup as a player and even he won IPL as a captain for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014, and in 2024 he won IPL as an mentor for the same team. So his guidance will help new Indian team which is full of youngsters and a new era will begin under Gautam Gambhir. Former South African pacer Dale Steyn lauds Gautam Gambhir for his new role. While appreciating Dale Steyn said:

“I am a big fan of Gautam Gambhir. I love his aggression. He is one of the few Indians that I have played against that kinda came back at you. And I liked that. I think that he has taken in the dressing room with guys like Virat Kohli and some of the other senior players might not play a big part anymore, I am not too sure. I don’t want to say they are completely out.”

“Not just in India but world cricket. They need guys that are a little more aggressive. They play the game a little harder. We all seem to play in the league against each other and we become quite friendly and friends. I like the way he’s fierce on the field but he’s a gentleman off the field. Then also a street wise and very smart cricketer and got a great cricket brain. So, I think from that point of view he’s gonna be fantastic for them too,” said Steyn.

Gautam Gambhir has a nack to manipulate game towards him and his guidance will surely help to shape Indian team and future ICC events his contribution will be most important. Sri Lanka tour will be the first tour as a head coach for him which will commence from July 26.
