Lucknow Super Giants had a strong finish to their season with an 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Concluding on a high note and leaving a positive impression going into the next season. Nicholas Pooran showed to the World Cricket that he is not done yet by smashing a breathtaking knock of 75 runs off just 29 balls against MI.
I wanted to get some experience and make it count- Nicholas Pooran
Nicholas Pooran was recognized for his outstanding performance with the Player of the Match award. His dedication to making every appearance count and seeking to gain valuable experience shows a commendable attitude towards the game.
The Windies player went on to say that:
“Personally, I just had to do my job which is to find a way in the situation and finish strong. Coming into the season I knew what my game would be. I have been inconsistent as well if I were to be fair to myself, so I wanted to get some experience and make it count,”
While Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got kicked off the playoffs, Pooran was asked whether it would have been better if he came to bat at the top order, to which he mentioned that he would play at any position if it meant his team would win.
“I’ve batted from Nos. 3 to 7 but if I had to choose, I like the powerplay as well. I can’t be selfish and choose. I can bat at any position and that’s my strength. I’m just happy that I can do that,” the 28-year-old added.
Nicholas Pooran reckoned on the second chance at life he received and the opportunities from the cricket association after a terrific accident which occurred a year ago.
“I’m just blessed, really grateful to have a second chance to play this game. Eight years ago when I had that accident, I thought I wanted to enjoy every game and every chance I got,” he expressed his heart-warming gratitude.
Pooran offered his vote of thanks to all the supporters and his team who backed him all these days and also said that he was delighted that he was in such a position where he could go and create an impact in the cricketing world.
“Cricket and sport is really difficult, it takes time. I’m just happy teams are backing me and giving me a chance to play. All the fans of the world who support me as well, I’m just happy I can go out there and entertain,” the hard-hitter mentioned.
Nicholas Pooran highlighted the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the USA and the Caribbean in the month of June and said that he would like to put on a show for the people to remember it and cherish.
“The World Cup is there now, it’s back home and we’re all looking forward to playing together and doing something great for the people of the Caribbean,” Pooran concluded.
