Heading into the eliminator between two sides hungry to hold up the title, this match will determine who will officially play in the final. As both units did play in that historic 2022 IPL Final, where Gujarat Titans (GT) won in their inaugural season, it will be a chance for both sides to reach that game once again, while looking to build this young and fast-paced rivarly.
Knowing that Rajasthan Royals (RR) had to play a semi-final before this since they finished in 4th place, their extremely strong performance showed that they are more than ready to battle another star-studded side. With Riyan Parag leading the Royals side for the first season ever, and this being his first playoff appearance as the head man, it will be interesting to see what kind of tactics he comes out with.
Meanwhile, Gujarat is once again in familiar territory as they have made the playoffs for the 4th time in 5 years and hope to be in the finals for a third. Despite fading again a little towards the end of the season and getting smashed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first semi-final, their confidence will still be up, as they have been in this position many times.
Similar to last year where they had everything working together for a good chunk of the season, the major difference this time is that they look more ready to take action after huge gaps of struggling. On this side, Shubhman Gill will continue providing his great leadership, and it will be important for him since he is also leading the ODI and Test sides for India.
Gujarat Titans Top-Order Should Make A Massive Difference
Talking about the Gujarat Titans batting, their top-order is something that will need to be heavily counted on in order for a successful first score or run chase. Opener Shubhman Gill has been absolutely dominant this season and is currently in the top 5 for runs with 618 runs, while also having an average of 44.14. With many questioning him before the season, he has answered any doubts and continues to be both a classy, plus powerful hitter. Someone bowlers fear to bowl too short towards, his ability from the right has opened up a lot of great opportunities for Sai Sudharshan on the other side as more of a clinical four-hitter, who can sometimes go big.
Seeing that Sudharsan is currently the 2nd-highest run-getter in this year’s IPL, it is quite impressive since he is backing it off winning the orange cap last season as well. Scoring 652 runs in his 15 matches this year, what makes this unit even more scary is seeing someone like Jos Buttler come right after him and go straight from the first ball.
Known for his amazing swing and pure strength, Buttler has proven to be one of the best finishers in recent years and should show that skill once again. Having scored 498 runs in his own right, these three opening pieces make up over 60% of the runs with Nishant Sindhu trying to make his mark at two-down. Despite Sindhu being in trouble, they may put Washington Sundar here since he’s hit two fifties and been a major threat with 311 runs. As Glenn Phillips and Rahul Tewatia will have to step up down the order, it’s going to get interesting to see how they survive under pressure.
Rajasthan Royals Star Kid Leads The Way For A Dangerous Batting Unit
On the Rajasthan Royals side, they are definitely going to be more than excited for tomorrow’s matchup after seeing the pace attack GT brings. With Vaibhav Sooryvanshi having the orange cap currently after scoring 680 runs, he has torn up several bowlers this season in ways that no one expected. At just 15 years old, he has tarnished tall pacers like Kyle Jamieson, while getting to a 100+ boundaries with ease and breaking Chris Gayle’s record of most sixes in a single-season. A unique style that doesn’t tend to work for most Sooryvanshi has proven that slogging could be a new element of the game for years to come with him leading the way for it.
Opening with him is Yashasvhi Jaiswal, whose continued being that consistent left-handed piece this side can really on to keep producing runs. Despite Sooryvanshi making his score look much smaller, Jaiswal has also scored 426 runs and hit three crucial fifties this season. At one-down, Dhruv Jurel is having a breakout season in his role with 500+ runs, and has shown that India can have another wicket-keeping option in the T20I format.
As Riyan Parag will come in after him, this could be a big moment for a player surrounded by tons of controversies this season, while struggling to find his full-form. With Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja being key finishers, it will give this team an opportunity to rely on their batting.
Bowling Attack Is Loaded Despite Some Recent Struggles For Titans
With Gujarat having a bowling attack that is filled with elite-level names and talent, they will look to make up for a very tough performance they had a couple days back. Opening the bowling will be Mohammed Siraj, whose taken 17 wickets this year, but his economy of nearly has become quite questionable.
Trying to find that perfect line will be key for him tomorrow, or Rajasthan’s starting three will take him on very easily. From right side, Kagiso Rabada has finally gotten back into form this year after missing most of last year with several issues and bad performances. This season, he has taken 26 wickets and is currently a tied purple cap holder.
Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna has also been a threat with his ability to bring in the medium speeds and fool many batters to take him on. Despite this, he is very similar to Siraj in a way, as they both can leak runs, and it mostly happens in powerplay overs against some of the more technical batsmen instead of hard hitters.
When going into the options for spinners, Rashid Khan is amongst the biggest same as he’s taken a similar leap to Rabada and taken 19 wickets. Finding his ability to bring a unique spin style that makes batsmen go inside out back, his four overs will be vital, and so will the ones of Washington Sundar, whose got the height to deliver bouncer like deliveries. Lastly, Jason Holder, 15 wickets in 9 matches, has developed himself into a key four-over bowler again and will look to build on his economical abilities as well.
A Huge Up-Roar Of Pace Has Saved Rajasthan’s Season Heavily
One thing that has been true about the Rajasthan Royals this season is that their pace attack being on song has helped them win matches, even when other things might seem a little off. During their losing streak in the middle of the season, their fast bowlers were on a little bit of a downturn, but now are back stronger than ever.
Firstly, Jofra Archer, 24 wickets, has turned into a special powerplay options as he continues removing key power-hitters early and has gotten his clocked speed’s back. On the left-hand side, Nandre Burger has taken 13 wickets in his own right, and despite having a slightly bigger economy, has been able to give four overs as well. With their third option being Brijesh Sharma, two major spinners in Ravindra Jadeja and Yash Raj Punja should keep dominating.
Final Prediction
Gujarat Titans should win this this match by either 15-20 runs if batting first or 3 to 4 wickets if bowling first
