ENG vs IND: Prasidh Krishna’s Raw Pace & Impeccable Bowling Stuns England

Prasidh Krishna played an important role in India getting a series levelling win at the Oval in London. Brought into the side for the final Test, Prasidh Krishna stepped up for India in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and supported Mohammad Siraj really well. While Siraj walked away with the accolades and rightly so given he was the leader of the attack, one mustn’t forget Krishna’s contribution in assisting him given that India had only 3 seamers and Akash Deep was battling fitness injuries.

Prasidh Krishna played in the first two matches of the series and while he got wickets, he went for runs and that is an area that he surely needs to work on going forward. Krishna is a work in progress but his height and raw pace made things difficult for England. If Krishna can work on the loose ends, then he can be a good effective bowler going forward supporting the likes of Siraj and Bumrah.

Prasidh Krishna’s 8-wicket haul floors England.

After playing the first two matches at Leeds and Edgbaston, Prasidh Krishna was left out of the Lord’s and Manchester Test match. He was brought back to play the Oval Test match with Jasprit Bumrah sitting out with the hope that he makes an impact with the ball. He has the awkward height to take advantage of the Oval Track and bowled really well this week.

In the first innings, Krishna picked up 4/62 in 16 overs and got the wickets for India at the right time. He got rid of Zak Crawley for 64 before getting Jamie Smith out for 8. He dismissed Jamie Overton for a duck while he also scalped Gus Atkinson for 11. He complimented Siraj who also got 4 wickets in the first innings as the duo restricted England to 247/9 with Chris Woakes absent hurt.

In the second innings, when England were chasing it was Prasidh Krishna who stood up once again as a support bowler for Siraj and finished with 4/126 in 27 overs. He got the big wicket of the dangerous Ben Duckett for 54 off 83 balls. He got Jacob Bethell out for 5 although it was the batter giving his wicket away. Then he got the big scalp of England’s finest Joe Root for 105 which made India believe they can pull this off. He later got Josh Tongue with a perfect yorker and went a long way in helping India win at the Oval.

Krishna is young in international cricket and is a work in progress. He will gradually learn about himself and improve as his career moves on. He has the height and can trouble the batters with extra bounce off the surface. If he can get his lines and lengths right, he can be effective going forward and be a better bowler.

Prasidh Krishna Performance Over The Years.

Prasidh Krishna is young in his international career and is young in Test cricket as well. So, far he has represented India in 6 matches in which he has picked up 22 wickets with an average of 34.36. The economy of 4.72 is on the higher side and something that he needs to work on going forward in Test cricket as he needs to keep a check on the run rate. Krishna picked up 8 wickets in this match but before he was a mixed bag.

He picked up 5 wickets at Leeds while he picked up a solitary wicket at Edgbaston. Krishna played just one Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2024/25 playing the Sydney Test. Krishna picked up two 3-wicket hauls and had 6 wickets in that match as he stepped up in Bumrah’s absence who was injured while playing that game. Despite Krishna doing well, Australia still went onto win the match and series 3-1.

Krishna is a work horse in First Class Cricket as he has picked up 93 wickets in 25 matches with an economy of 3.30 and average of 23.47. His best figures in First Class Cricket is 10/94. Krishna has also played 17 ODIs and 5 T20Is in his fledgling career with loads of IPL games. He played for the Gujarat Titans this season and finished as the Purple Cap holder.

It seems Krishna is suited and will be preferred for Test match cricket. This is the format he has to be groomed in and he needs to become more consistent in delivering the goods for India. He has the talent, height and pedigree to do well. Does he have the consistency is what remains to be seen. So, far he has done well and was one of the main reasons why India levelled the series 2-2.

What Lies Ahead.

The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy came to a cracking conclusion with India levelling the series 2-2. Both teams now have a breather from Test Cricket. England players will join The Hundred starting on August 5th while India as things stand have a month’s break before playing the Asia Cup in September. England also has a white ball series against South Africa in September.

India’s next red ball assignment is the 2-Test match series against West Indies starting October 2nd while England’s next red ball assignment is The Ashes in Australia from November 21st at the Optus Stadium in Perth. But plenty of white-ball games for both teams.

So, a lot to look forward to for both teams as cricketing action continues all over the world entertaining fans and readers alike.
