DC vs RR: DC Show Nerves Of Steel & Register Emphatic Win & Break Records

IPL produced another thrilling encounter for the audience yesterday, DC beat RR in a super over. Mitchell Starc proved his worth of 10.75 crores. Let’s look at the records being broken in a thrilling encounter of DC vs RR

Super Over

This is the first super over in IPL in the last 4 years. The last time a match went to a super over was in 2021. Again, DC was involved in it. They clashed against SRH. DC won that match. Overall, there are 16 Super Overs in IPL history. DC was involved in 5 of them and won 4, more than any team.

The long 4-year wait for the super over in IPL has ended now. This is the longest streak without a super over match in IPL history. Since the first super over in 2009, there have never been 3 consecutive seasons without a super over match till 2021. We didn’t see any super over in the last 3 seasons ( 2022, 2023, 2024 ).

Jofra Archer strikes KL Rahul

KL Rahul had a tremendous record against Jofra Archer in T20s. Even Jofra Archer was asked about who the toughest batter to bowl in T20s in 2018, he mentioned KL Rahul’s name. Yesterday, KL was batting well in the middle and aiming for another big score.

But, Sanju Samson bravely introduced Jofra Archer into the attack in the 13th over despite their previous matches. The gamble worked well, and KL lost his wicket in the fourth ball of the over. This is the first time Archer has taken KL Rahul’s wicket in the IPL. Before yesterday, KL smashed him for 89 runs off 59 balls with a strike rate of 150 in the IPL.

188

188 is the highest score chased against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley stadium. This has happened twice before, CSK in 2008 and SRH in 2018. RR were on the verge of chasing 189 and breaking the record today, but were stopped at 188. Still, 188 remains as the highest chased total against DC at Delhi.

11 balls

Sandeep Sharma bowled 4 wides and one no-ball in the last over, and he finished the over by bowling 11 balls. He equaled the record for the longest over in IPL history. He shares this unwanted record with Mohammed Siraj ( vs MI in 2023 ) and Tushar Deshpande ( vs LSG in 2023).

The extra runs he gave in his last over became very crucial at the end of the game.
