DC vs GT: GT Pull Off An Incredible Heist Against DC

Gujarat Titans (GT) win a remarkable 1-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC). It was a near-perfect game for GT, who handed DC their maiden defeat in IPL 2026. DC would be shell-shocked at how close they were to winning the match, but couldn’t get over the line. GT is now placed at 6th position on the points table with 2 points from 3 matches, & DC is in 4th position with 4 points in 3 matches.

GT registers a mammoth total

GT got off to a breathtaking start in powerplay overs as they scored 68 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Jos Buttler dazzled in powerplay overs as he was smashing bowlers all around the park. Jos Buttler reached his half-century in 24 balls; there was carnage at Delhi. Buttler had hit 5 sixes in the power play as he was quite

Shubman Gill was quite watchful at the start of the innings. The astounding promotion of Washington Sundar at the No.4 position paid dividends for GT. The left-hand right-hand combination of Washington & Gill changed the complexion of the match completely. The duo added 104 runs in 60 balls.

Shubman Gill showed another feather in his batting style as his 70 runs in 45 balls knock displayed that he can play waiting game & then change gears. GT smashed 13 monstrous sixes, which is immense. Washington Sundar displayed sheer mental application in his stellar knock of 55 runs in 32 balls.

DC’s bowlers were hammered, we can say, but they pulled things back in the death overs, where they gave away 49 runs & took 2 scalps. Lungi Ngidi’s variations were quite tough to pick as he was economical while giving away 24 runs in his 4-over spell & one wicket he had taken. The surface was quite placid where bowlers had to toil a lot. GT put on a commendable score of 210-4.

Rashid Khan & Co win a thriller for GT

DC’s openers Pathum Nissanka & KL Rahul went out all guns blazing in the response to the target of 211. The wicket was slightly keeping a bit low unexpectedly & dew factor wasn’t there. Pathum Nissanka was in complete zone, especially in the 6th over when he demolished Ashok Sharma’s variations and hit 3 fours and 1 six as 23 runs overall were scored in the over of Ashok. DC scored 63 runs in powerplay overs & both openers were looking threatening.

The middle overs phase was quite critical for DC to keep the momentum going ahead, but GT had other plans. Prasidh Krishna got the better of Pathum Nissanka in the 9th over as Nissanka was out on 41 runs in 24 balls (*6 fours and 1 six). In the same 9th over, KL Rahul was completely unaffected by the dismissal of Nissanka, who tonked Prasidh for 20 runs & hit him for 2 sixes and 2 fours. DC’s score at the end of 9 overs was 97-1.

Rashid Khan got two back-to-back scalps of Nitish Rana & Sameer Rizvi, who were getting a sharp turn. Rashid has been quite lately off color, but in this match, he was bowling impeccable line & length & frustrated the batters. DC all of a sudden were in a spot of bother at 101-3 at 10 overs.

KL Rahul & David Miller were fighting hard for the run chase & to keep the required run rate intact. There was a wrist injury to David Miller as he walked out of the field when DC’s score was 130-3. KL Rahul & David Miller had contributed 30 runs from 18 balls, but then Axar Patel came into bat, which proved to be a drastic turning point. Axar was bamboozled by Rashid in the 14th over when DC’s score was 134-4, requiring another 77 runs to win from 6 overs.

KL Rahul was fighting a lone battle, the ball was a bit stopping & coming completely opposite of 1st innings. KL Rahul had no option but to go berserk; in the 17th over, Tristan Stubbs was run out due to a miscommunication & later KL Rahul edged the ball to wicket-keeper Buttler. KL Rahul would rue the fact that he missed out on a well-deserved ton who scored 92 runs in 52 balls. DC required 45 runs to win from 3 overs.

David Miller then came into bat, who, despite having a wrist injury, as his palm had a bandage on his palm, or we can say a covering. Last 2 overs, DC required 36 runs to win & Vipraj Nigam was also there. David Miller showed nerves of steel as he dispatched Siraj for 2 humongous sixes & 1 four, and Siraj missed his line & length as he gave away 23 runs which brought down the equation to 13 runs.

The wicket of Vipraj Nigam didn’t affect Miller as on the 4th ball of the 20th over, he hit a gigantic six as the equation was brought down to 2 runs from 2 balls. It was quite perplexing to see Miller not taking a single on the 5th ball. It was one ball & two runs to get, tension was palpable for both teams. Shubman Gill & Prasidh Krishna took a lot of time to set the fielder, & later Prasidh bowled off-cutter short ball which Miller missed & even Kuldeep Yadav failed to run to striker’s end as Buttler hit the stumps & GT won by a solitary 1 run.

GT would be enthralled given how they won the game against all odds. DC, on the other hand, would be in a state of shock as the game was swinging from one equilibrium to another in the blink of an eye, but still they were the favorites to win the match. GT has registered their maiden win in IPL 2026 & got 2 points.
