Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has expressed admiration for the young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his solid performance on the second day of the first Test match of the five-match series against Australia. Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal was departed for an eight ball duck in the first innings of the match but in the second innings he made no mistake during his stay on the crease.
The 22-years-old Indian batter is on unbeaten 90 off 193 deliveries at the end of day’s play after taking the lead of crucial 46 runs. During his stay of 90 runs, he smashed seven boundaries and two maximums, keeping the Australian bowling attack on the backfoot.
It is the first ever visit for him on the Australian soil and he has already shown his caliber in the second innings itself. On the Moving day of the match, he will look to score some big runs.

During his post match talk with local broadcasters after th, Gavaskar praised the Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener for his sensational knock and showing his character against the mighty Aussies.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal has the cricketing world at his feet. He is hungry for runs and that’s exactly what Indian cricket needs. A left-hander, who at the top of the order can create problem for the bowlers. He brings a completely different perspective. He loves to play his shots, and isn’t an ultra watchful batter. He will play his shots,” he said.
The youngster has shared a great partnership of 172 runs with KL Rahul, who scored 62 runs off 153 balls, for no loss and put a lead of 218 runs for the Men in Blue at the stumps of day 2. Both will be looking to dominant the Aussies on day 3 as well.

The Indian commentator has further discussed his potential and thirst to convert his hundrends in big ones. Notably, he has crossed 150 runs mark for three time and 200 runs for two times in short career of 15 Tests.
“This boy is special. Where he has come from, the way he has been batting, the way he has been handling things. Against England, he scored more than 700 runs in 5 Tests with 2 double hundreds earlier in the year. He looks so hungry for runs, which is what you want. We as batters used to say, I want a hundred. He says, let me get a 150 or a 200,” said Gavaskar.
In his 28 Test innings, he has smashed nine half-centuries and three centuries with an excellent average of 57.57 . His performace in the series against England earlier this year, has been arguably one of his bests in the red-ball cricket.

India finished the day on a high note with a lead of 218 runs after bowling out the Australian side for 104 by the second session itself. Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah has been exceptional with the ball and led the team from the front. He has been unplayable for the Kangaroos. Bumrah also went to register himself in the elite list of captains who were exceptional with ball outside of India.
Jasprit Bumrah took a five-wicket haul to sum up the Australian batters and ended with a bowling figure of 5 wickets for 30 runs in his spell of 18 overs. Apart from the Indian captain, Mohammed Siraj and the debutant Harshit Rana took 2 and 3 wickets respectively in their bowling spells.
After bowling out for 150 runs in the first innings of the match, Men in Blue came up all guns blazing with ball and they were right on top form ball one. At one point of time, Aussies were 9 wickets down for just 79 runs but all thanks to Mitchell Starc who scored some crucial runs at the end to edged past three figure mark for the Australians.
